My partner works at a grocery store chain and tonight she went and worked at another location an hour away because they were short staffed. She had never been to the store before and didn’t know anybody there. The manager on duty was incredibly weird and (on top of many other things) kept coming by and spraying my partner with fart spray, no fewer than three times during her shift. It made my partner feel incredibly weird and I feel like it was incredibly unprofessional especially since my partner was cashiering and around customers the whole time. I don’t think this is a fireable offense, but I feel like the manager should have some repercussions for doing this. How would one even approach this topic with a higher up?

Pointless question, but here goes:

I used to argue and debate people online for hours a day, which would sometimes go on for days. I used to love a good debate IRL too.

I was so passionate about defending my viewpoints and opinions.

But now, as I've gotten older, I just don't have the strength or energy to do that anymore. It's too exhausting. Now, instead of debating/arguing my opinions, I'll just say instead, "you are entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine" and I'll just drop the subject all together.

We have a plant in the office next to the nespresso machine. It's an indoor banana plant.

People just throw what's left of their coffee or the last droplets after the machine finishes the coffee in it.

Will it grow healthily? Will it die? Will it turn black?

I might be wrong, but I was told solar panels in space produce much more energy than on earth, but that there is no practical or efficient way to bring that energy back to earth for us to use.

So, could we outsource some of our energy hungry computer processing / storage/ servers etc to a space station and use energy efficient solar panels and just stream or use remote computing?

Seeing as it’s such an open ended question and virtually impossible to have a “right” answer. What do you find the meaning of this existence to be?

Excuse my vulgarity, but this question has been on my mind for a while now. For the record, I am not talking about aftermarket headlights. I am talking about the manufacture headlights that are so god damn bright that I'm surprised there is not a fusion reaction going on.

You know what headlights I'm referring to? The ones that look white and not yellow like older headlights.

As far as I can tell, there is absolutely no reason at all for these lights to exist. In fact, I would argue that they should not exist AT ALL because they are so blindingly bright. I think it is a safety hazard. To illustrate this, a while ago I was at a four way stop on a foggy night. On the road next to me at the intersection there were two cars: one with regular headlights and a newer car with LED headlights. Through the mist the regular headlights looked like a flashlight (ie a cone of light) and the LED lights looked like a million fucking high powered lasers.

A year ago I rented a car, like a basic Honda sedan, and it had those god forsaken lights. I am worried that they are becoming standard because car companies don't want to look outdated by using traditional headlights. I seriously don't see how these headlights are even legal, they seem so dangerous to every other driver on the road. Can someone enlighten me?

I see a lot of people commenting that they support Trump because they believe in his policies over Biden's. Fine. But why not just go with a different Republican candidate? With all of the indictments, crime, fraud, bullying etc, I can't wrap my head around why he is the front runner for the GOP.

Did anything strange occur? I’m flabbergasted at how many ‘theories’ were going around about what it would supposedly do to you.

We are not religious and my son just saw a Noah’s ark cartoon (YouTube algorithm). He quickly asked me who god is. What do I tell him?

I think about people who get sucked DEEP into diet/workout/lifestyle regimens that literally become their entire personality.

To me being raised in the south where religion basically is your major personality trait anything that takes over your personality(it could be work/hobby/kids/star wars as well) starts to feel like religion.

Especially those that have moved to Europe.

I lived in the USA for about 10 years before moving to Southern Europe and the things I miss the most are definitely the diversity and how convenient life is

"Big" meaning at least the size of Boise, Spokane, Tulsa, etc.

Edit: I suppose I should rephrase my question as "which U.S big cities have the least to offer to a tourist, in your opinion?"

Recently the video game company Bungie made a tweet trying to represent Hispanics and Latinos for Hispanic Heritage month (another problem by itself since both communities are not the same but that’s beside the point) and they used “Latin/e/a/o/x”. Bungie is not the first to do this, serveral corporations use “Latinx” or some variation thereof in a poor attempt to represent Latino communities (for obvious cash grabs). Why is that? The majority of the Latino public dislike the term as it is completely foreign to the language. Why do companies insist on using it when it’s so obviously offensive?

There are nights when I crave for someone. I want someone who would hug me tight and say that - ‘it's okay’.No matter how much I enjoy being single, often I linger on to the thought of being with someone. I crave for someone who would be there holding my hand no matter what.

At my work I manage one person who works on reception. She is a nice person but her attitude is terrible. She takes about 25 paid sick days a year, and when she is there she complains all day every day that she is tired and/or has a headache or her foot hurts or she has a bad tooth etc etc. She constantly looks miserable, rarely smiles and sounds extremely ‘down’ when she answers phones etc. One of my colleagues calls her a dementor because if you speak to her for 5 mins you feel like you’ll never be cheerful again. Several of my colleagues and supervisors have told me we need to let her go but I feel like it would be unfair dismissal as it’s just her personality? She doesn’t have a diagnosis of depression (I subtly asked this one day when she complained she was tired for the 90th time) but what if she is mentally ill?
