The fact he was arrested because of a 'look at how alpha i am' tweet to Greta Thunberg makes this so much sweeter

[–] frozengriever@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

She's serious about cleaning up the planet

[–] catarina@kbin.social 10 points 1 year ago

"Whole Man Disposal Services, this is Greta speaking, how may I help?" 🚮

[–] aeternum@kbin.social 17 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Andrew Tate is the one who said "you looked hotter years ago" meaning when she was about 15 or 16, right?

[–] CIWS-30@kbin.social 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Guys like this tend to have big pedophile energy, honestly. Same with people like Trump. I'm never shocked when they say stuff like that. If anything, I'm shocked if they say the opposite.

[–] Calcharger@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

You're right! Pedophiles indeed have pedophile energy 🤣

The fact he was arrested because of GRETA informing the authorities of where he was, was even sweeter.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GRETA

[–] HexTrace@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I saw a theory that someone said to Tate that "GRETA is after you, gotta be careful" and Tate didn't know what that was so he typed "greta" into Google and got back the top result of Greta Thunberg, which was why he ran his mouth at her on Twitter.

With how stupid Tate appears to be I consider that to be a real possibility for how it went down. If so it's even more hilarious.

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 2 points 1 year ago

I love this theory. I want so badly for this to be true.

[–] Slartibartfast@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago

Her responding with "this is what happens when you don't recycle your pizza boxes" was possibly the funniest thing that happened all year.

[–] InfiniWheel@lemmy.one 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'd love this to be true because it would be funny af, but no, the police probably knew where he was for months before hand. The arrest just came at the perfect time.

On the other hand, his constant boasting about being a romeo pimp for his previous porn site definitely led to some part of the investigation.

[–] Spacemanspliff@midwest.social 1 points 1 year ago

I believe they had said that they weren't sure he was in the country until they saw his pizza box and then swamed him.

[–] gmtom@kbin.social 45 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Trump, Johnson and Tate all going down at the same time.

I know they're in 3 different countries, but could you imagine them all in the same cell? Put some hidden cameras in and you could have the biggest reality show ever.

[–] Anon2971@kbin.social 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's been quite a relief seeing justice coming to three pieces of shit at the same time I never thought I'd see justice to

[–] Calcharger@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Justice only when indicted edit Convicted. But it's a good start

[–] kn33@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

I propose the catchy "Justice when Jailed"

[–] golf99@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago

I would pay DAILY to watch that

[–] Slartibartfast@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

I'm possibly being a party pooper, but I'd also like to see all three disappear into their respective prisons and never hear from any of them ever again.

[–] hippopotamuslobster@feddit.dk 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Trial may take several years. Gonna be a interesting run. Plenty of time for Tate to rile up his followers, continue to run his mouth, and make some money off his "educational" avenues.

[–] Calcharger@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm unfamiliar with the Romanian justice system, but I hope it's swift and uncomfortable

[–] hippopotamuslobster@feddit.dk 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm also hoping for a swift one. The less lingering, the less hyperbole by him, his brother, and their fans.

[–] gingerrich@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

From the article "The trial will not start immediately and is expected to take several years."

Iirc he talked about running cam girl operations to get rich in his hustlers academy lessons.

[–] cassetti@kbin.social 10 points 1 year ago

Don't forget he claimed in another video that he was moving to Romania because the laws in the country were weaker and it was easy to bribe the police.

[–] tikitaki@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

nothing inherently illegal about that. his real crimes are using coercion and manipulation (ie fraud) in order to take a bigger cut from the girls. he told the girls that it was 50/50 split when in reality it was like 90/10. even going so far to preparing fake tax documents to justify taking more money from them

he would speak with girls online, convince them that he wanted to be their boyfriend - they would move in and he would then get them on the cam sites. this is enough to justify human trafficking charges. he brought people to his cam house through lies and manipulation and then kept them there through lies and manipulation.

the beautiful thing is he essentially openly admitted to a lot of this in his hustler's university lectures.

[–] hippopotamuslobster@feddit.dk 4 points 1 year ago

He said the quiet part out loud, because he was sure that the Romanian justice system was easier to navigate as a criminal. Let's hope they took that as a challenge, and will show him it's not easier to get away with, in Romania.

[–] gqphypocrisy@kbin.social 10 points 1 year ago

If he says the Corrupt Left is out to get him he can get the Anti Trafficking US Conservatives to pay his legal bills!

whoa whoa whoa

don't insult all the other cretins, this guy is much worse

[–] Calcharger@kbin.social 11 points 1 year ago

My apologies to the other cretins

[–] admin_lemmy@lemmy.webgirand.eu 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

[–] DarkGamer@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago (4 children)

After hearing the Behind the Bastards episode on this guy, he just seems like a self-aggrandizing blowhard. Why is this brand of narcissism so appealing to certain segments of society?

[–] Underwaterbob@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Confidence and self-esteem (as misplaced as they may be) are attractive to those who lack those qualities. Anyone with a shred of their own self-esteem or confidence can see right through him. Unfortunately, there are plenty of vulnerable, disenfranchised, or mentally ill people out there ready to be taken advantage of. Hopefully his days in the spotlight are numbered.

[–] artisanrox@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

They're racists, ableists and misogynists. Everything else they scream about is a cover for those types of things.

[–] Tigbitties@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

There's a shortage of positive cis white male role models. Some kids need that and they latch onto whoever is the loudest.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

That's a perfect description. I said narcissist but yours is much better.

I'm also puzzled why his self aggrandizing rants are so popular. There's nothing intelligent in it.

This is barely related, but the other day I was at a local park and a big group of kids were singing some counting game. It was a "one, two, buckle my shoe" thing. I was surprised when they screamed, "seven, eight, Andrew Tate". I'm sure they have no idea who Andrew Tate is, but it was crazy to me that he had made his way into culture that way.

[–] kool_newt@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I thought he went to Romania because he thought he wouldn't be arrested there?

[–] skulblaka@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He did, and then publicly bragged on the internet about how Romania wasn't going to arrest him.

They, uh, didn't take that kindly.

IIRC the agency that arrested him is basically considered the "unbribable" police there

[–] pasci_lei@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

He should have stayed breathing air.

[–] MoreCoffee@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

What a piece of shit.

[–] airportline@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Mashallah! What God has willed has happened!!!

[–] Rhabuko@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

Good. Hope that disgusting dipshit fades out of our collective memory after he goes to jail for a long time.

[–] ptsdstillinmymind@lemmy.studio 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It couldn't have happened to a better person.

[–] MishaMouse@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

you love to see it
