Don't dox yourself. Try to limit your information to a Maidenhead locator or general area of at least a few kilometers in an urban area and a few dozen in rural areas.

I'm from South Hesse, in Germany. Some of the most regarded German comedians (yes, they exist) are from around here and we have a pretty diverse culture, both traditionally German and from immigrants.

So, where do you live and how is it?

silicon valley in the usa. weather's nice, food's good, public transportation and walkability absolutely sucks, has some nice magic the gathering stores, has some of my friends. i grew up near here, so it feels like home

I live in Almada, Portugal, just one or two bridges (or a ferry) away from Lisbon. I live out in the suburbs of Almada, so it's generally pretty peaceful here, while still being relatively close to the capital. My workplace is also close to where I live, so I don't have to cross the river and deal with all the traffic and people commuting to Lisbon.

Oh, and I live like half an hour away from the beach. So yeah, all things considered, I'm pretty happy with where I live.

I'm looking to relocate to Portugal! I hope I can find a place as scerene as you describe.

[–] HarvesterOfEyes@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There's a few, yeah. Unfortunately, housing prices in or near big cities right now are pretty much unsustainable for your average portuguese Joe. If you're coming from a wealthier country and live a somewhat comfortable life, you'll probably have an easier time settling in, though. But even then, it's not as easy as it used to be.

yeah, I'm hoping to stay away from cities. I prefer a relatively secluded life.

Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

I'm from a small town in Kentucky but have moved multiple times throughout my life due to my parents occupations. Now that I'm older I've moved to a bigger more liberal city in Kentucky which is considerably more diverse and has plenty of things to keep you occupied.

South Africa!

A rural part of County Monaghan, Ireland. Terrain consists almost entirely of green grassy hills which are decent enough to look at, but the weather tends to be dull and wet (although it hasn't been lately). Somewhat backwards by Irish standards, but Ireland isn't a particularly backwards country anyway.

Helsinki, Finland.

I like it here. It's not crowded. Easy to move around. Nature is nearby. Few challenges: weather in November (dark, rainy), endless civil infrastructure investment (construction).

I can't think of another place to live except maybe in November.

I live in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. Ready to comment "GEKOLONISEERD" on anything remotely Dutch.

As for how it is living here, quite sunny atm 😎

Phoenix, Arizona, USA. The weather is brutal this time of year, and the metro area is mostly yellow, brown and baise. Not much green to speak of. Winter weather is great though, and a few hours north there are some pretty awesome mountains though, so that's somewhat redeeming.

I grew up in Poland, now living in the UK (up north). I moved here in my mid twenties and I really like it here. And when I miss Poland a quick trip to polish shop helps.

I live in the countryside of western New York, somewhat close to Buffalo. Its beautiful land, but not a lot to do unless you're really into outdoor activities (which are fun, just in moderation for me).

I was born in Dayton, Ohio in the US - however my father was in the military at the time, and two years later he was stationed in San Antonio, Texas so we moved there. I then lived there until about a year after I graduated high school, and moved back to Dayton to be closer to my mom's side of the family.

I much prefer not living in what is essentially summer weather for 80% of the year! Plus, I never really got to experience snow as a kid so that was quite fun the first winter! 😅

I'm from south west of Germany (Südbaden).

Originally from the mid Atlantic, USA, have lived in NW England for years now.

Born in Chile, living in Canada since I was 4, so I'm almost 90% canadian (although if someone asks, I'm still first and foremost a chilean)

East Midlands in the UK

[–] Gazelli@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago

Westside of Michigan. The summers and autumn are stuningly beautiful here. And it's surprisingly affordable to live here, though, like pretty much everywhere, that's is charging rapidly>

[–] Sizousho@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago

From west Central Arkansas, USA. It's fairly nice here. Travel for an hour in any direction and you are basically in the middle of the woods. Very slow way of life for most.

Originally from Long Island, New York and the city area, now in Metro Detroit - USA. Similar vibes, but more quiet way of life. Cool to learn about the midwest and different area of the US. I've lived in the UK before and miss that. I hope to make it to the West Coast to see what it's like living there :D

Greater Boston area here, and I love it! Lots of friends from school happen to live here, and the job market has been decent for me as a software engineer.

I’m from Bucharest, the capital of Romania.

Southern California. It's very hot here and there's a lot of dirt, but at least we have In-N-Out.

Being in the high desert, we have like four weather patterns, but we do rarely get snow so it's cool to see when it happens. It also gets very windy, especially during early summer.

To get anywhere interesting you would have to drive, and to go on vacation you would have to drive much further. Even then, a lot of people still drive big trucks that burn gas like nobody's business. But hey, that's rural America for you.

Georgia, USA here. I live up in the mountains and though it is very, VERY beautiful up here, the culture is a bit backward. This is MTG land, after all. :(

I'm from Medford, Oregon.
