Any combat flight simmers out here? (www.digitalcombatsimulator.com)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by F04118F@feddit.nl to c/flightsim@lemmyfly.org

Is there a federated r/hoggit-like place already? What should a federated hoggit be called? Foggit? Or just combatflightsim@lemmyfly.org?

As for me personally, I mostly fly helicopters and mid-late cold war jets (guess my favorite) in DCS though I sometimes do MSFS and have previously flown X-Plane (7,8,11).

I use a VR headset, HP Reverb G2, with Virpil HOTAS and MFG pedals. Ryzen 5800X3D with an RTX3080.

I joined !dcsworld@feddit.de https://feddit.de/c/dcsworld which, despite the German instance, is an international English speaking community. If you want to make a broader combat-flightsim-focused group, it's probably best to create an account on lemmyfly.org so you can make a community there. For me though, I fly DCS basically exclusively so I'm happy with !dcsworld@feddit.de

Edited community links

It would be nice to have something akin to r/hoggit, but I would only be able to create it on the instance I'm on right now, and at the moment, I'm already moderating one sublem for the first time, I don't feel ready to take on a second.

Edit: I just checked so I could join the DCS one you mentioned, and the actual link is this (https://feddit.de/c/dcsworld). Not sure if it was changed or what happened

Thanks! I just saw it this afternoon when I searched the browse.feddit.de but it wouldn't federate yet from feddit.nl

Still getting "404 - couldnt find community" when I try feddit.nl/c/dcsworld@feddit.de Are you sure you've openes it up to other instances?

I'll keep trying and start sharing some stuff to get it kickstarted once I get in

Hey there. I mainly fly the F/A-18 Hornet in DCS on the Hoggit server.

I use a mix of VKB stuff, the WinWing Hornet controllers, and custom 3D printed stuff for my sim rig.

I’ve written up some of my projects:

http://gloryfish.org/project/3d-printed-hotas-gunfighter-mount
http://gloryfish.org/project/macropad

I fly in VR with the Index.

I always love to hear about heli folks since I fell in love with simming way back in the day playing Gunship 2000.

I would dive in but I presently don’t have room to bolt a collective to my office chair. :P

Wow, those DIY projects look impressive! No need for a collective to fly helicopter, I also use a regular throttle. If you're interested, just activate a trial and reach out if you want a wingman. I can fly most helicopters except the Apache, but I prefer the Mi-24, Gazelle and Mi-8. I usually fly on Central-European evening time.

Yes! I love flight sims, everything from Sopwith and Spectrum Holobyte’s Falcon to DCS, IL-2, and MSFS!
