I have to add, WFUV, the NY NPR station, has a focus on new music and does a great job of finding amazing stuff. And theyve got a great app to explore new music if youre not in NY. Its where I discovered sylvan esso there snd theyre one of my absolute favorites, as well as many others. They send correspondents to festivals like SXSW to see whats new and coming.

All of those and some others.

Ive also collected friends over the years with similar and dissimilar tastes that are excited to send me new music they find. This is the way I find most NEW music, as in stuff i hadn't heard or known of before. The problem I have the most is getting stuck in these algorithm loops where even when i discover something new through say spotify or youtube the algorithm wants to tune a Playlist to what it thinks is what i enjoy instead of whats closest to that song or band or whatever. For this I have 2 friends I can simply text "algorithm breaker" and theyll send me something totally out of left feild that I will love. That usually does the trick for a day or two at least.

I'd say Miam, San Francisco, and Atlanta

NY gets to cover the whole NE and Miami is it's own special place. Atlanta takes care of the SE.

I know you're being facetious here, but I have to say, it's wild how much more I get hit on as a clearly married dad than I did as a single man.

So I dunno man, if youre looking to get laid maybe just slap a ring on for the night and see what happens.

I both fully agree and disagree. While there are several tattoos I would like to have gotten in my life, I've never been able to justify the cost. Monitary cost or time cost. I do have one tattoo and it is my wedding ring. I do not wear jewelry and work with my hands. Now some may argue thats stupid for different reasons but it remains my only tattoo.

A friend once drew me a tattoo to get, and that would have been cheaper to have traced on to me, but after many years, I find I'm just as happy to have that piece of art my friend made hanging on my wall.

I love seeing other people's tattoos, particularly when it's someone's art and not yanked from media as you said or just tattoos for the sake of tattoos.

My wife has a number and they all mean something to her individually and look great. My brother has a few that all have meaning to him, and they mostly look terrible, but are still original art.

Its just such a long history and wide range of tattoos and reasons for having them i find it hard to put a blanket statment like " tattoos are stupid" on them. On the other hand i feel "tattoos are stupid for me" completely accurate and reasonable.

I must disagree, it is much like fight club would lead you to believe.

A friend passed out in a tub (very drunk) years ago with a teeny tiny diluted drop of the stuff in it. It straight up burned a hole in him.

I've got a high arch and it took a little bit to get used to not having tight laces. I had at some point found out that I had been tying my shoes too tightly for years and after the initial jarring change my feet do feel much better. The tops of my feet would get itchy because I was restricting blood flow.

I also wear boots most days and lacing boots is quite different than tying shoes and a Chelsea boot is way more comfortable.

Added benefit, when shoes need to come off, they're just off.

Slip ons only. Velcro might as well be laces. Still have to bend over or sit down.

I've known so many people over the years that would have been fine getting by selling things they've made, or fixing others things, if they didn't need employer based Healthcare.
