Right, so like, can we maybe collectively stop chastising America for not having instantly overthrown the government when it turned tyrannical? Maybe some patient, constructive encouragement instead; the constant hostility from ostensive allies will only serve to grind down those here on the fediverse actually trying to do things.

I think this argument is missing the nuanced component where the continent of Africa experienced this brief moment between the fall of the roman empire and the rise of the european slave trade where Africa wasn’t being raped by Europe. As i understand my slavery history the early-middle roman empire got the ball rolling a few thousand years ago, granted to nothing near the scale of modern European exploitation

In America it is somehow, inexplicably, easier to organize and coopt conservatives into betraying their cause than it is to get more than even 2 or 3 self proclaimed leftists to agree to do anything at all substantial.

edit: This has been my experience, at least. The American “left” mindset is so very performative and seems to think that doing anything other than voting the problem away is too scary or too much or too something. I cannot imagine we will see actual organization until something so bad happens that not being organized seems more dangerous than being organized, and i’m pretty sure it’ll be way too late to get started safely and cleanly by then.

If you listen closely you can hear the sound of the joke completely going over your head

You seem to be fully accepting the contortion of language to the degree that you accept that enemies must be allies. I don’t know any main stream media leftist pundits, they’re all liberal and some of them disguise themselves to be leftists; those ones are liars trying to muddy the water, not representatives of leftist ideology

Polygamy = man has many wives

Polyamory = person has many partners

As i understand it, it’s all about how much misogyny is at play

In one comment you chastise for believing and not taking responsibility, and in this comment you chastise for still believing while trying to fix things. Is it safe to assume that anyone who finds religious creeds acceptable is inferior to you

On top of that the general price increase over the last 25 years has come with considerable increases in set intricacy, piece count, and variety to both piece shapes and themes. I love to dunk on corporate price gouging but i really struggle to fault LEGO. I personally use “a person can comfortably buy LEGO as toys for their children” as my personal litmus for what a good wage should be; they’re pretty solid for maintaining a price/value ratio and Americans should all be making at least 150k/year by now even out in the boonies, just deduct it right out of the fortune 500s margins

The types of christians who would dig this repressive mobile network are the kind who prefer overly simplified and easily digestible theology; that is to say the people who would pitch and want this phone definitely are in the “serpent is satan” camp not, “lets have a nuanced discussion about metaphors”. Not that they would accept the rebuttal, but i don’t think it’s invalid from the frameworks that produce this nonsense

That is not how socializing on the internet works. You make the claim, you back it up or be discredited for inconsideration

It really doesn't seem that far fetched. Though, we would have to collectively get more involved in city council/planning meetings

To a certain extent you are correct and that is the point. For those leaders not so engrossed in the dogma abstracting away the idea of god acts as a bridge. Someone showing up to AA must believe in something outside of themselves as being more important than themselves otherwise why would you improve yourself? For religious leaders who operate in institutions, the ways of the institutions must be upheld, but it is also obvious that the institutional ways are bullshit and change is slow, so compromise is made to enable those who see through the bullshit to participate without drawing the ire of the “true believers”

edit: this compromise has been going on for a while and acts as the basis of the Unitarian-Universalist denomination
