Do you realise how ridiculously expensive it is for Google to store all these videos? To be honest I'm surprised how long they've survived, without charging.

You essentially get unlimited free video storage using YouTube, yes I suspect 90% of it is crap. But it's amazing that Google still offer that. Running YouTube must be significantly more expensive than any other similar services like Netflix, YouTube, Instagram etc.

I don't understand why people cling on to crap, probably better me posting in unpopularopinion... but I just don't understand why people want a headphone jack, removable battery, SD card slot, SIM slot etc. I actively look to purchase phones that don't have this.

I recently bought a new phone and I'm quite frustrated that it doesn't have esim support. As others have mentioned, it'd make using your phone abroad so much easier. Surely in 2023 a physical SIM just shouldn't be needed any more...

If you don't mind paying though, just pay for YT Premium?

Just had a look there and they're talking about the removals too, someone commented saying the word 'bitch' is censored here too?

Are there any Lemmy instances that have a policy against any censorship? I'd rather use one that doesn't defederate or censor anything.

Yeah it needs to have some kind of Blockchain really, user accounts need to be distributed so you can move between them all and not lose your account.

I picked LW because it was big, I assumed if it was big it was more likely to last and must be big for a reason... I now see the incentive of smaller instances and it makes it difficult to commit to this site not knowing the future of each instance and therefore the communities that go with them, plus on top of this you can have bad instance admins, and all the defederation rubbish.

How do you move a community, start fresh?

Have you considered putting Cloudflare in front? I'm sure their team would be happy to help out.

What if the username isn't available on all of them though?
