I had a similar experience with my steam controller. Give support a shot, the worst they can say is no.

Maybe not in the usa but I can 100% see some European countries or maybe even Russia doing that to limit reliance on US tech

They are both good options. The general way I break it down is:

Is this your first Linux PC? Bazzite

Is this a home theater PC or other console like device? Bazzite

Do you have a lot of specialized hardware that needs custom drivers / kernel modules? CachyOS

Do you want to be able to more easily customize parts of the os? CachyOS

Obviously not every case is covered here but hopefully that gives you a bit more of an idea of what each distro is better at. Performance wise they are nearly identical, tbh the biggest difference is that Bazzite is an atomic distro and CachyOS isn't.

Lol I would have too, but unfortunately I had owned it for probably 5 years before I switched to linux

I was able to get mine working by setting it up as a network printer via windows and then just accessing it like that through Linux. But yeah, if I ever change wifi ssids I would need to factory reset it go back into windows and configure it again. (ET2400)

Edit to be clear the windows instance is only needed for setup, it can be shut down or removed entirely after setup

The fact that I can see this being cannon so easily.

While just running better for most of the tasks I do (and being more customizable) are a huge plus. I am also personally sick of the way Microsoft (and most other large corporations) do business. So Linux is my way to do what I can to not support them and move towards a better future.

I have known cheap imported tech to do that. But I haven't heard of a first party product doing that in a long time. Either way I'm glad they didn't, less strain on my wrists 😄

I got my reservation in the first 2-5 minutes of them being available. My spot in line came up about a week ago, and it showed up yesterday. Enjoying it so far, I have big hands and it fits quite well. The "cheaper feel" every reviewer refered to is actually just that it is kinda light for a wireless controller (compared to my Xbox elite series 2 that it is replacing), which is a win for my wrists imo. The plastic feels the same as my steam deck oled. And for those asking yes it has the same "steamdeck smell" that is impossible to describe but rather pleasant. Hope they manage to get through the queue fast for those that want one!
