You're not supposed to be able to beat every optional boss you find the first time you see it, unless you really are a parry God. The game allows you to circle back to optional bosses at later opportunities quite regularly.

.... Teaching middle schoolers has affected me more than I'd like to admit.

A bit tangential, but just want to respond to your as someone who teaches singing and has to do a lot of talking in my profession - teaching (generally) involves a lot more talking than people tend to realize, and suddenly doing that after a long period will tire out anyone's vocal cords! I know my voice is typically shot the first week of teaching after summer break if I'm not very mindful about how I use my voice. This isn't like muscular atrophy though, the voice bounces back quick and adjusts to the increased use as long as you stay hydrated and don't push it too far past the fatigue and risk injury.

This has really worked pretty well for me. I have to stop myself from researching optimal builds and strategies when I'm learning a game because it always accelerates the path to no longer enjoying the game.

The most fun I have is when I approach it the way I would've as a kid: what looks cool?

For that to happen, society needs to be structured in a way that the benefits of greater productivity is distributed to everyone, particularly those most in need.

I sure as hell don't see that happening anywhere at the moment. Productivity has grown steadily since I entered the workforce - my paycheck sure as hell hasn't reflected that.

I think it entirely depends if the next wave of democrats in charge of governance make any kind of considerable effort to embrace the working class and improve the economic conditions for the average person. As time has shown, they just never fucking do when they're in charge. That's why the pendulum keeps swinging further and further to the right - the democrats promise better and cannot remove themselves from their corporate donors enough to actually improve the country for the average person. So when their lives continue to get materially worse under democrats, voters once again swing to the right hoping for a change, only for things to get worse faster and the cycle to continue.

I'm hoping things are bad enough this time for democrats to actually do something. I'm not holding my breath, though.
