Simplex is great! I have not noticed any impact to battery life. I use it mainly to chat with my family including kids who don't have a phone number, which makes other secure chat apps not feasible. I really like that it is nearly impossible for someone we dont know to reach the kids on simplex since the connection process is very manual.
