It used to be you could find a box of photos or keepsakes that you inherited to look back on how things were or when you were a kid. Now, most of that is stored on phones, and most parents probably don’t think to share or save them in a way to be passed down in the future.

We need this magazine to make a come back. I remember it was basically “Consumer Reports” for kids, but it had articles in it that taught kids to be critical of businesses practices such as calling out “new and improved” language on products and to think through how you’re being sold to.

Does anyone know what happened to Crunchyroll-Downloader? I tried to log in and I got an invalid client. And then I saw the project was taken off GitHub. Did they finally get noticed and blocked? I’m bummed because I had some series I needed to finish off.

Include both good and bad morals, habits, views, etc.

So there’s something I need to get off my chest, and if I post it on my LinkedIn it would be career suicide at my level.

In a company, the largest line item by far is usually payroll. I have been at a number of companies that are trying to cut costs and don’t care if you come up with the correct amount via other OpEx categories, they want headcount reduced because “it’s so much”.

So along comes the promise of a computer bot that understands the normal person and also:

• Does not require sick/vacation time
• Does not take FMLA
• Does not want a bonus/profit sharing/equity
• Don’t have to pay unemployment taxes, Medicare or SSI
• Does not require them to spend money on health insurance
• Will not form a union
• Wont ever file a lawsuit for any number of reasons
• Will work 24/7

And this right there is the exact reason so many CEOs are salivating at the idea of AI. Not for worker efficiency, not for any number of “positive” benefits they may taut, but they finally have a glimpse of the chance to rid themselves of one of the largest headaches that they perceive in a company.

I got crop dusted on my flight the other day and I thought I was gonna get diabetes from one person running to the bathroom. And then a couple weeks ago it smelled like death walking.

After that I realized that I’ve noticed most everyone that is fairly old (70+) is similar. So what causes that compared to the normal methane composition of adults?

A sample journey when trying to install software:

• Try your distros repos, it’s either not there or an older version
• Oh wait, you need to add their repo to your list and try again
• Actually, they don’t have a repo, but you can install this deb/rpm from their site
• Nevermind, it actually needs to be installed with pip to get the latest version
• Or wait, it was actually a rust package and needs cargo
• Well, this package is available as a snap
• Screw it, I’ll just build it from source…. Except the dependencies I need take me through the entire journey again

It’s crazy with a large package like mesa. It uses meson, which requires it be installed via pip, and also needs rust which is best installed via a snap, but then there are dependencies it needs that require multiple paths…

On Windows: find the msi or exe and be done with it.

I haven’t had a TV in my bedroom in over 20 years. I had an ex who always wanted it on all the time, even to sleep to, and it drove me crazy.

Saw an old lady getting out of a BMW X7 M60i (the high performance version). I asked her what made her choose the M60i and she just said “I dunno, the salesman said it was the best one they had”.

I know, cue the Joey jokes.
