As the other reply said, I have no idea what reddit UI is like, but I've tried several Lemmy apps, and Summit has ended up as my favorite.

Ehh... Im not sure it was a gamble in this case. Valheim was pretty complete in its early access form when I bought it like nearly 5 years ago. It also has overwhelmingly positive reviews. I think it's also delivered more than its original roadmap, which wasn't much past mistlands.

They stated it will still receive bug fixes, just perhaps no new content.

I think I paid $20 for it and I feel I got my money for it, even though I haven't even played it since before the mistlands update released. I plan on firing it up again after the deep north 1.0 releases and imagine having a lot of fun with it.

I guess it's boring but it's never broken on me in the 5ish years I've been using it since switching from i3.

I read all this hype about hyprland but sway does what I want and need as a tiling window manager, and simply see no need to even try hyprland.

I run Debian and have done nothing special to game on it. All native games I've installed run fine. Only non native game I play is WoW, and it runs fine. Though requires a GE proton update every now and then.

I have an AMD 6600 gpu.

Water heater pilot light (lemmy.zip)
 

I didn't have hot water last night. Checking the water heater, the LED on the front wasn't blinking which meant it either wasn't receiving power or the pilot light was out. It's an AO Smith with a Honeywell control unit on the front as in only about 5 years old.

No breakers were tripped, so I was confident it at least had power, though it's a bit annoying that there's no obvious light on the box to demonstrate it actually does have power. I followed the procedure for relighting the pilot light several times and LED would not start blinking normally. My stupid water heater is behind a door in a tiny room in my garage with my furnace / HVAC stuff. Because of the cramped space, I could not actually look through the small window at the bottom of the water heater to see if the pilot light was even sparking.

So I found a small mirror and set it up to get a view inside the window. After turning off the garage lights and some awkward positioning, I was finally able to see the tiny flame when following the lighting procedure. So at least that was working. But the pilot light would never seem to catch to make the system operate normally. The flame would go out immediately after releasing the pilot button.

Watched a bunch of youtube videos and returned to the task this morning. Possibly an air flow problem or ignitor safety reset. Safety reset thing wasn't tripped so I tried to clean all the filters and retried the procedure. Same outcome as last night with the initial flame from the ignitor but no normal operation. I was about to give up and call a plumber, but decided to watch one more youtube video, which demonstrated measuring the voltage from the wires at the front of the unit to test for a defective something or other.

Found my voltmeter and detached the small connector on the front of the control box to measure the voltage. The voltage went up past 350 mV as expected. So at least that part wasn't defective. Though that meant I had no more ideas, so again was about to call a plumber, but plugged the connector back in and gave the procedure one more go, and it TURNED ON!

I have no idea why, maybe there was some sort of reset that needed to occur that happened when I disconnected that small connector. Took like 3 hours of troubleshooting. We'll see if it stays on.

I've never had anything go after my tomatoes, peppers, or cucumbers, though I don't have any wildlife besides birds where I live. The only pests I have are aphids on my kale. I regularly buy ladybugs and they deal with the aphids.

Most atheists are agnostic atheists that do not accept the proposition that a god or gods exist. They make no claims.

Theist: There is a god. (claim)

Atheist : I'm not convinced. (Rejection of the claim)

Because society is so heavily influenced by god belief, there exists a term for those that reject the god claim. Most do not believe bigfoot exists, but there's no special "abigfootist" word for the same exact position about not believing in a god. And people don't go yelling at "abigfootists" to prove bigfoot does not exist.

There are some atheists that claim there is no god, and that would absolutely require evidence.

That's a bold statement. Can you prove that we cannot possibly know one way or the other?

Most theists believe in an all-powerful god. If such a god exists, it could absolutely prove that it exists, otherwise it wouldn't be all powerful. So far, it hasn't done so, and no one has presented me any convincing evidence, so I don't believe in a god.

You should meet some more atheists. Most atheists are agnostic atheists -- I don't know whether or not there is a god, but I currently do not believe in a god.

Yes, some atheists do think they know there is no god. That is a belief and requires proof, which like the theists, they don't really have.

You're forgetting the response from the theist.

Tofu in crock pot, with a chili or curry? (lemmy.zip)
 

I want to incorporate some vegan meals in my diet. I'm not a vegan, but want to start eating less meat and dairy to lower my cholesterol. I do a bit of strength training, so would like to still get sufficient protein.

I regularly do curry in my large crockpot using chicken because it is an easy meal prep for 2 weeks of lunches. How does tofu do in a crock pot?

I'm also looking at some vegan chili recipes for the crock pot, and again, thinking about throwing some tofu in to increase the protein.

I lean towards tofu as a complete protein source. Though to be honest, I'm kind of ignorant about vegan sources of complete protein, so maybe others have better recommendations.

Somewhere online I read that tofu might break down in a crock pot? Is this true? I might be okay with this because the other potatoes, beans, veggies etc should be enough texture. Unless it turns super gross?

Our neighbor's cat visited us a lot and then decided she lived with us instead. We called her Meows since we didn't know her name. Eventually talked to the neighbors and learned they named her Zoe. We didn't like that name for her so call her Meows.
