Thanks to the people who responded to my previous post.

I have now spent about a month on Sailfish on an Xperia 10 iii and am very impressed. Calls and texts are good, Most Android apps that i couldn't find Sailfish ones for work perfectly.

I really like the UX when I have to use an android it feels so antiquated, i have gotten so used to the gestures and flow.

The only issues I have are a couple of Bluetooth things wouldn't work; however I have spent the time making my own apps to run them. I have just finished my Sailfish version of a lithium BMS monitor along with creating my own Lovense app. So at least I have fixed my Bluetooth limitations.

The only other thing i have noticed but we probably can change is; is there any way to get a different keyboard maybe with slightly larger letters, is there any way to add predictive text?

Overall though I really am very impressed with it, not just from a privacy standpoint but from a usability perspective. Especially now I have gotten my head around creating native apps so I can plug the gaps a bit.

I like Nano; it lets me do what I need to do quickly, simply and efficiently.

Don't really do playlists but i have Genres, They are then split into bands, Which are the split into albums.

I would suggest you look into Nextcloud as you say you would not want to self host individual things like Immich to build up your own ecosystem.

Nextcloud can be self hosted but lots of companies offer a paid instance that you would be able to get and move your whole family to.

I had the same trouble when looking for a NAS case that did not cost a fortune.I ended up buying a Gemini nas case from Ali Express.

Other than waiting a couple of weeks for it to arrive the price was around $140 USD and it is actually a really good case and mine holds 8 drives.

I am currently looking into moving from Android to SailfishOS and have ordered a sony Xperia 10 III to try it on.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if the basic SMS functionality is reliable?

I know that some Linux Phone OS's are not yet reliable enough on calls and SMS to use as a daily driver.

I have nearly every service imaginable running and have now started a new project.

I am creating a searchable stock photo archive for my lan. It has been a very interesting project but think i may have crossed the line into overkill lol.

I had hundreds of stock photo cds from the 90s I have turned them all into ISO's.

I then spent ages dealing with some strange cdrom layouts but got all the images off.

I then converted them all to JPG.

I have now setup a batch script that dedupes then takes the images in 2k batches, runs them through a ai vision model to add keywords and descriptions; as they have none.

They are then copied to a folder where I have photoprism running as the front end and I only have 4k done so far but they look amazing and the search and descriptions are really accurate and useful.

400k more images to go but at least it should all be automated now.
