Come join our PlayStation community !playstation@lemmy.zip

There you’ll find news, articles, opinion pieces and reviews of PlayStation games and hardware old and new. Like a review of 2008’s PlayStation 3 racer Ferrari Challenge that was posted yesterday.

Think of the community like a traditional gaming website except with no hosting fees or SEO to really worry about there’s no click bait and most importantly no ads.

Traditional gaming sites exist to make money by getting the maximum amount of traffic to their site. My community is about all things PlayStation because I want to write about it, share it and talk about it, not because i’m looking to get something out of it.

Most of the content is posted by me (the mod) as I am currently resurrecting an abandoned community but members are perfectly free to post their own content too.

Unlike other gaming communities I won’t be merely posting links to websites. Anyone can do that. What sets this community apart is all content posted by me will be readable entirely on Lemmy. So all news stories, articles and reviews will be my own writing.

Obviously I won’t hold community members to that and they are free to post links to other sites or they don’t even need to post content at all, just come and subscribe and the best PlayStation news will land in your Lemmy feed.

I hope to see you there.

Warez on Linux in any form or shape, from commercial software meant to run on Linux, to troubleshooting Windows apps in Wine. Sharing with external links is allowed. Repacks (deb, rpm, xbps, etc.) are also allowed, as long as they are shared through external links (doesn’t matter where as long as they’re not hosted here). RCE tools and tutorials are also welcome, regardless if it’s specifically aimed at Linux binaries (ELF - Executable and Linkable Format) or Windows binaries (PE - Portable Executable) on Wine.

Intro post

TL;DR: Linux community with an emphasis on content moderation to filter out newbie stuff. No grudge against Linux beginners, but the amount of same low-entry content on !linux@lemmy.ml can be tiresome to see.

I created this community as shrinkflation is getting really bad in Canada, especially in grocery stores.

This community is probably going to lean towards being Canada-centric, but shrinkflation posts from all over are welcome!

Shrinkflation is defined as a reduction in size or quality of a product, for a same or higher price for a given quantity.

From Wikipedia:

In economics, shrinkflation, also known as the grocery shrink ray, deflation, or package downsizing, is the process of items shrinking in size or quantity, or even sometimes reformulating or reducing quality, while their prices remain the same or increase. The word is a portmanteau of the words shrink and inflation.

[...]

Shrinkflation allows companies to increase their operating margin and profitability by reducing costs whilst maintaining sales volume, and is often used as an alternative to raising prices in line with inflation. Consumer protection groups are critical of the practice.

Shrinkflation is a rise in the general price level of goods per unit of weight or volume, brought about by a reduction in the weight or size of the item sold. The price for one piece of the packaged product remains the same or could even be raised. This sometimes does not affect inflation measures such as the consumer price index or Retail Price Index, i.e. it might not increase in the cost of a basket of retail goods and services, but many indicators of price levels and thus inflation are linked to units of volume or weight of products, so that shrinkflation also affects the statistically represented inflation figures.

Want to promote our community before global anniversary starts on 16 January or later.
More active part is reddit arknights discord r/arknights discord invitation so if you want to chat with people who are still on reddit and people who aren't there anymore, this is where you meet them. Lots of activity there so if you have any game related questions someone will answer you.

Less active part is our Kbin magazine (community) at https://kbin.social/m/arknights or https://lemmy.ca/c/arknights@kbin.social /arknights@kbin.social .
Many people tried out but not many stuck with it and as there is no active communities dedicated to arknights, will try to keep our magazine up.

If you know any lemmy community dedicated to arknights then I would really appreciate if you point me to some.

So this little community started from a joke comment on a post about how communities here are often Lemmy versions of communities on other platforms. That's totally ok, but we thought some originality might be nice and ran with that random joke comment.

Now that the community is growing, and I have a better idea of what the community can be, it's time to promote it 🥳🧦
