Hello all I 44(M) moved back to nz 7 years ago. I moved to whangarei with my German partner and our young son. Chose whangarei because I'm from the north originally and have always seen it as home more so than anywhere else, also have a couple of friends who live here. Maybe when I was younger I just didn't notice it or it didn't bother me, but the bogan/redneck type culture here just seems so prevalent. It really bothers me and even at home I have to try to ignore the stupidly loud vehicles burnouts etc. Maybe some will think I'm being precious or something, but I just want to live my life without being surrounded by people who's day to day activities are so intrusive on other people's lives. So where is the least Bogan place in nz?

The average Kiwi thinks that reduced cream is only there for dip, but do you have any other uses for it?

One I used to have a lot as a kid when I went out sailing with Opa was reduced cream on fruit (Usually canned peaches) It's a simple and tasty dessert or snack when you don't have a fridge.

Edit: Kool Kiwi Tip! If you want dip right now, you can mix your onion soup packet with a tub of sour cream. It's already cold, so you can eat it now.

Feeling dejected, hopeless and clueless. I wanna upskill but not getting the drive to do that as well. I have worked in multiple countries before and this lay off has hit my confidence. I am new to the country and got a job after hunting for 6months and now am unable to get anything considering the market situation also. Not sure why am posting this but am tired and clueless.

Hey, so I'm really interested in collecting all kinds of short, to the point statements which would work well on protest signs, both for myself and anyone else looking at prepping for the inevitable.

Some little ones I have:

"Don't Profit from Our Pain!"

Fix Healthcare, Not Corporate Bottom Lines

"Patients Over Profit!"

"Stop Corporate Healthcare Takeover!"

"Hands Off Our Hospitals!"

"Healthcare Is a Right, Not a Business!"

"Your Corruption will Kill"

"Corporate Health, Corrupt Wealth!"

"Luxon’s Hidden Agenda: Privatize and Profit!"

I'm really keen to see some from people more creative than I.

Kia ora. I posted here a long while ago through an alt account asking for advice about a misdiagnosis. Everyone was very kind, and it helped me through the confusing and frustrating time.

I had another psychiatrist appointment today. The psychiatrist was very nice, and I got to let some things out that has been bothering me for many years. At the end of it, I asked him about the bpd, and he reassured that I don't have BPD, it's all just autism (which has been diagnosed when I was 15 anyway).

I'm not too sure where I was planning to go with this, I guess I wanted to thank everyone from my previous post, it has been a huge relief.

So yeah, thank you, r/NZ. You have lifted a big worry off my shoulders

We haven't done one of these since the 70's.

Here's every shit thing the coalition has done (off the top of my head) in less than a year:

  1. Cancel the NEW Dunedin Hospital after making CAMPAIGN PROMISES to build it BETTER than labour had promised.
  2. Tax Cuts for Landlords
  3. Borrowing for tax cuts...
  4. Reducing the Bright Line Test and profiting off of it personally.
  5. Firing Government workers resulting in even higher unemployment
  6. Reducing the funding for Kainga Ora and practically stopping the building of new housing, with NZ having the some of the lowest rates of publicly owned housing (including council!) in the OECD AFTER substantial Government investment!
  7. Less jobs available for builders (refer above) and associated companies.
  8. The mere self-suggestion by any Government agency it needs to be privatised let alone our healthcare system!
  9. Giving the police a worse pay-rise than what Labour originally offered last year
  10. In general repealing a whole bunch of policies including but not limited to:
  11. Reducing access to benefits for disabled individuals
  12. Replacing the Productivity Commission the "Ministry of Regulation"
  13. Creating significant social upheaval and we haven't even yet had Seymour's Treaty Principles Bill yet read in Parliament!
  14. The worst Government for Maori affairs in decades.
  15. Intentions to start exploring for gas (which on average would take a good 15 years before we could start using said gas)
  16. A failing energy sector with no intentions to "fix" it.
  17. Knee-capped Councils by not assisting in funding for ancient water infrastructure, or taking the responsibility off their hands
  18. Charter Schools in NZ: Funding for new schools for the few, but not the schools we already have.
  19. A whoo-ha over truancy that parents can get around simply by saying their kids are sick: as they always have been able to.

This Government is failing us. I want to plant the seed of a nation-wide strike. We can only take so much. The Dunedin hospital and privatising health care out of "desperation" - this has to stop. Our Minister of Health is invested in private Healthcare companies!

So I made a post the other day about my coworker who takes everything and silly me mentioned my workplace name. Not that I really care if they find out but there's a few branches around the region so thought who would find out who he is 🤣 Now my coworkers and boss have been talking about it and that coworker chimed in saying something along the lines of "oh I wonder who it is". Love it 🤣

I was applying for a job yesterday and one of the questions for “Diversity Reasons” (or however it was phrased)were Sexuality and had a drop down list of Straight, Gay Bisexual, Asexual, etc

The company was also asking me if I was Transgender? I just dont see how this is related to any job roles at all.
