It is like Marxism in Reverse- The Ultimate Nanny State.

They are actually considering forcing people to move their place of employment so that they'll maybe walk past a Cafe and buy a coffee so their Business mates will be okay.

Decades of progress about how we work, and how we can do so efficiently and productively (and Happily) outside of the Postwar Model- and a little cabal of Freemarketeers in the CBD just whisper in their ear-

"Not enough foot traffic- people working from home-blah blah-less profit-help me"

And the whole bloody engine of Government leaps to thei collective feet and start screaming about "going back to work", about 'Privilege"- "Productivity"- without a single shred of evidence

Either FOR or AGAINST

  • just the "Feels" of their mates...

The Ultimate Nanny State. "Work here- Walk there-Spend this"

Absolute pack of unfit fools. Rally against them at every turn

I bought an iPhone 14 Pro Max on trademe and paid via ping. Seller had decent feedback and I used ping so I thought I was safe.

The seller sent me an empty iPhone box. No phone in the box. The postage bag was not ripped, meaning no one stole the phone during shipping

Seller is denying and saying she put the phone in the box and in the postage bag, that someone probably stole it.

Seller thinks I’m really that stupid. Firstly, at the post shop you wrap your package and then put it in the bag and SEAL the sticky adhesive to close the bag and then hand over to the counter. Obviously she knows what she was doing but still denying.

When she sent off the empty package I asked for the tracking number, so she sent the picture of the the printed label with the tracking number and weight of the package LOL this weight was 0.152 kg (152 grams). I searched up an iPhone 14 Pro Max mass and its 240 grams. Something isn’t adding up. Today I weighed the empty phone box and postage bag and it weighs exactly 152 grams. She left her phone number on the postage bag too (what an idiot).

I checked the imei number of the phone and the “find my” status is showing as active meaning someone is still using the phone.

It’s really amusing how stupid some people are.

With this proof and reasoning, I really hope trademe give me my refund. Do you think they will give me a refund ? I’ve heard cases where trademe will not bother with refunds due to scams.

Thanks for reading

Are charter schools a test bed for the privatisation of Education? David, please help me understand 🙏

The University of Otago College of Education says "there is no credible case for: a) their reintroduction by the current government b) permitting or requiring existing State schools to convert to charter school status"

Butter especially- seems as soon as all the press went down about butter prices they all upped it!

Noticed Butter is cheaper at Pak n save than it is The Warehouse now too 😅 - both around that $7 mark for a block now though.

Their milk is still cheaper at $3.30, but noticed in the past week EVERYONE upped their milk by about 30c per 2L bottle. (Cheapest supermarket milk is $3.90 for 2L now)

Though is dairy in general perhaps? Countdowns $10 cheese went up to $10.50 a month or so ago as well.

It's a bit embarrassing to say, but I am incredibly nervous about filling up my car. I have never filled it up before and have always gotten others to fill it up and will do it tonight for the first time. My fuel type is petrol, so does this mean I use 91 or 95? How much do I know how to fill so I don't spill it out?? Any last minute tips or help? Cheers.

Has anyone gone to uni in their 30s?

Seriously looking at a career change, I've been in the engineering / electrical industry for 12 years now. I'm currently working in a hospital and found I enjoy helping people, even though my role isn't patient facing. Seeing the care the hospital staff give and the kick out of helping people is infectious.

I'm still interested in technology and engineering, so I was looking at medical imaging as a good branch between both worlds.

I'd love to hear people's thoughts and experiences!

To the people who responded to the post I made last night talking about where I’m at mentally and my job, thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

You’ve all offered me amazing advice and support. You’ve shown me that I can have a good future and take hold of my life, but I have some work to do for myself first. There is much to learn and I’m willing to learn as I go through my life. I will be speaking with my psychiatrist as well as my gp around getting support financially whilst I try and scale back my hours. Will talk with winz as well. I will try to use what time I have to do some inner reflection on what I want my future to look like and try to work on it one step at a time. I’m looking into what options I may have around studying or upskilling.

Your generosity and kindness has filled up my cup in a way I couldn’t imagine, and given me a little bit of confidence and energy. I will take my time and go through the process slowly so as not to overwhelm myself.

When I’m in a better place mentally and financially, whenever that is I will try to pass on the generosity and kindness that has been shown to me. It’s good to know I’m not the only one with the issues I’m facing and that others have similar stories or completely unique ones.

Once again thank you all so much. I am more hopeful now than I have been in quite some time.

I just found out, from my cameras, that my property manager held a viewing for potential tenants. We were NOT given notice about this viewing. The last email I had received from my property manager was asking for permission to hold a viewing for a day last week, which they did not end up doing. I understand it could've been a mistake and they meant today, but it is still unacceptable. Especially when I was on my way home sick from work and knew there were strangers in my home!

I had given permission for previous viewings, but it still doesn't allow them the assume I'm okay with another today.

I have already sent a grumpy email to the property manager, but just wondering if I can do something further as all actions can have consequences.

Our house was also not ready for viewing as we had undies etc drying on show, clothes on the floor, personal items out, and mainly the house was a mess to the point where you can't walk into a room due to boxes and in the middle of packing.

WHAT CAN I DO?

Thanks!

Edit: The response to the email was "We thought you had moved out". Why would we move out early when our fixed term contract states end of October, and why would we pay another month in rent if we weren't living there. I call bull💩 on their excuse.

“Beyond reasonable doubt” being the key in this one, eh?

Interesting, but had an air of inevitability about it…

By successful I don’t necessarily mean financially, I mean if you think you have a great family life, great friendships/relationships, enough money so that you’re not shitting your pants daily, a healthy outlook on life etc etc.

I’m currently feeling like I’m on a hamster wheel where every day looks the same, I’d say my family life is pretty decent, job is ok, financial situation isn’t bad but could always be better.

I’m just wondering what are your hobbies, what does your down time look like, any advice for the young ones starting out on mistakes to avoid or things you’d do differently?

I guess this is a post for everyone wanting to better their lives and can’t quite find the right advice or idea to make that transition.
