Jean Piaget once said that intelligence is not about what we know, but what we do when we don’t know. How we figure things out when we’re in new territory or out of our depth.

Do you agree? Does that mean that current “Ai” isn’t technically a type of intelligence?

If AI becomes superintelligent, how will we know that it is superintelligent? The point of that is that it would be so smart that we would not even be able to comprehend it, so how would we even measure it? We are superintelligent compared to dogs. Do dogs see us as superintelligent beings? They probably see us as somewhat smarter and that's where their scope of perception probably ends. What if we create superintelligence and be like "Yeah, this thing is really smart. Outperforms all of our experts, but it's not quite ASI just yet, and still does some stuff that seems completely illogical" even though it is, and we are just unable to perceive it, and that "illogical stuff" is the AI playing 6D Chess and we are too stupid to understand it or to accept it as an objectively better solution

Original Title: UN Secretary-General António Guterres says there needs to be an International Scientific Council on AI, bringing together governments, industry, academia and civil society, because AI will evolve unpredictably and be the central element of change in the future

People are getting over themselves at something like o1 preview when this model is something neutered and much worse in comparrison to the actual o1. And even the actual o1 system which is already beginning to tap into quantum physics and high level science etc.. is literally 100x less compute than the upcoming model. People like to say around 3 years or so minimum for an AGI but I personally think a spark is all you necessarily need to start the cycle here.

Not only this but the data is apparently being feeded through be previous models to enhance the quality and make sure the data is valid to further reduce hallucinations . If you can just get the basic understanding for reinforcement learning like with alpha go you can develop out true creativity in AI and then thats game.

The biggest difference of o1-mini, over 4o, apart from it's thinking abilities is its massive output window increase[LINK] to 64k tokens. So instead of getting one or two file code from 4o, I can get an output on 5-7 file code change based on file length. Now I'd like to iterate this process. But that really isn't possible since the total context window is still capped at 128k.

It's context window is so small, and it loses attention, and renders it's step increase in intelligence unusable fully. If it would get an upgrade in context window like Google's Gemini, it'd be an pretty huge upgrade in a coding assistant tool.

Not to mention, if it gets access to internet, or internal code testing sandbox, or something like Claude artifacts, Anthropic would be running for hills.

Personally I think as we start going Jetsons style and having multiple domestic servants that interact with people and property outside our households, we will likely need to carry liability insurance on our droids.

I could see new insurance companies forming for this purpose that would price the premium based on the predictability of the Droids behavior and the allowed (covered) use cases.

I think that AGI will make most middle class households end up resembling more of a small business than a house as far as the expenses go.

Oddly enough we may end up with the same economic boom slavery provided, except now we would have "ethical slaves"
