A new job is requiring everyone to

1.) do a 2 hour interview to 'test' their equipment while being videos for publicity.

2.) asking for 'volunteers' to clean their establishment before their grand opening- unpaid.

3.) a training session before beginning work- which I have also heard no talk of being paid.

This seems like free labour. The applicants are 80% high school kids/ very young people and it seems like the company are taking advantage because never in my life have I heard of this kind of hiring process for a minimum wage hospitality job.

You lot talk a lot of shit about how terrible New Zealand is but in light of recent news this morning can’t help but be incredibly thankful to be born here and my biggest worry is having to wake up at a ridiculous time in the morning for my silly job in paradise.

luxon had reported to make 1/2 a million on property sales and the labor party critises the gain even though they openly said they rule out the tax when they were taking the shots and the national complained about it too.

its brought up like schrodinger saying they both want it and not.

which begs the thing... is it time to seriously consider a capital gains tax?

Thoughts? I work for One nz and noticed in our office my coworker has been taking all sorts of things home. Only I notice because we're usually on the closing shift together. Here's a list of things I've noticed him taking:

ALL stationary, Tissue boxes , Toilet paper, we get free fruit he takes the lot, Coffee, sugar etc

ps Not gonna rat on him

Wanting medication for executive dysfunction, which requires diagnosis, so I don't have to live my life with a significant perpetual hurdle in every single thing I do every day.

First GP fucked up every single referral by putting an incorrect address on the referral saying I was on the south island, thus all got rejected because they're not online assessments. Cost me a lot of time and money repeatedly going back and it was only by chance I even saw the address he put on the referrals.

Changed GPs and the first referral went through with correct address. But had to wait 3 months for an appointment.

Due to childhood trauma they said they won't diagnose. Instead they put "probable ADHD".

Due to symptom not experienced in >10 years refused access to stimulants which leaves only strattera, the least effective option, and no alternatives when it doesn't work. Didn't write a prescription, wants GP to do it, so its a further $65 appt + prescription fee.

If my old symptom actually bears risk then just like the huge list of side-effects on every medication, that should be up to me to assume the risk for after being informed, not them.

Now I need to start the entire process from scratch and an even longer waiting list for a psychiatrist who comes better recommended. And paying all over again.

I went private, not public. Its hard to appreciate NZ. I just want to get closer to the default setting every other privileged person is born with without having to make a shit ton of effort to remove the barrier that makes everything take a shit ton of effort.
