Promised as from the National Party website:

A National government will build the hospital Dunedin needs, National’s Health spokesperson Dr Shane Reti and List MP based in Dunedin Michael Woodhouse say.

“If elected in October, National will deliver all the beds, operating theatres and radiology services that Labour removed,” says Dr Reti.

“The cost of this commitment is $29.5 million and will be fully funded as part of the next National government’s programme of capital investment.

“This will cover 23 inpatient beds, two operating theatres, and a PET scanner at Dunedin Hospital.

Delivered: Well, the current plan to downgrade and cut funding to Dunedin Hospital (I feel like everyone should be aware of this at this stage, if not, read the news).

Hi everyone,

I’m a recent graduate with a computer science degree and have been struggling to find a job for the past 4-5 months. I’m starting to think it might be time to explore other options, as I need to get back to work soon.

I’ve always enjoyed physical work because it’s mentally rewarding, and I’ve been considering getting into a trade like carpentry or electrical work. I’m 28, with student debt, so I’m not too keen on going back to school for courses, but I’m eager to learn on the job.

I don’t have much experience with tools, but I’m motivated to learn. Any advice on how to get started in trades would be much appreciated.

Original Title: I've emailed the prime minister regarding the WFH changes. Productivity is their concern, but they can't give more details. People should be in the office if they can, but at the same people could still WFH if there are sensible reasons.

I've emailed the PM as I believe WFH should not be reduced and is beneficial for productivity, traffic, environment, and wellbeing. Their first reply below.

We are concerned that what was introduced as a temporary measure during COVID risks putting pressure on team performance, office culture, and talent development. That’s why we’re setting clear expectations around working from home arrangements for the public service and that if you can work from the office, you should.

Working from the office enables efficient communication, free-flowing ideas, and strong professional relationships. It also supports younger and newer employees to observe and learn from their more experienced colleagues.

There are many sensible reasons why public servants work from home. Lots of men and women have in place good-faith arrangements that work well not only for them and their family but for their agency as well. The new expectations will not prevent that from happening.

Working from home arrangements should only be agreed to where they will not compromise the performance of employees and agency objectives. Agencies must actively monitor the prevalence and impact of working from home agreements and be able to regularly report to the Public Service Commission about the number and nature of the agreements they have in place.

Then I asked on basis of what research or KPIs their perceived drop in productivity was based. Response below, they don't know the details. No response from minister Willis yet.

As the Prime Minister, he relies on his colleagues to respond on his behalf to specific matters relating to their portfolios. As such, I have forwarded your request for more information onto the office of the Minister for the Public Service, Hon Nicola Willis, for their consideration.

I am a young man from the US and I am traveling to New Zealand to meet a close friend, so I want to ask what American items would be appreciated in New Zealand.

“…

In New Zealand we also face serious struggles with suicide among both youth and adults and it's often kept "hush hush". New Zealand’s youth suicide rate for adolescents aged 15-19 years was reported to be the highest of 41 OECD/EU countries (based on data from 2010). While not as high as the US, men are more than twice as likely to die by suicide than women in New Zealand -

I have lost two very close friends to suicide in the past three years (both very talented males in their early 30s). I think about both of them everyday. Living in different parts of the world meant I awoke to a barrage of missed calls, voicemails and messages from other friends in our circles back home. I called back and heard the news that we'd lost our friend. When the first friend departed this earth in 2021 I had a sinking feeling, why so many calls and messages from all these people..? As sad as it sounds, when the second friend departed this earth, only around three months ago in July I knew exactly what had happened before even calling. Fucked up. Here's hoping no more waking up to these type of calls.

…”

"Professor" Lester Levy, who can talk to the Media at length about his 'academic' endeavours, cant string a sentence together when it comes to his main mission... he winces and looks to Margie Apa whenever an ACTUAL fact needs to be discussed....

This is the dumb shit he comes out with=

"Productivity is down"

"It was bad during Covid"

"But its as bad as though it was 2012".

And then he talks about "waiting lists"

I'm gonna send (another) OIA asking how he defines 'Productivity' in the most complex industry on earth, what measurable unit he uses, and how many of them are we worse than in 2012, and during Covid and where we are now. And how its all worked out?

Because he hasnt a fucking clue about what hes talking. Hes a bullshitter...
