A gumboot tea swiller for many years, in the last year I’ve developed a love of loose leaf herbal teas, my go-tos being peppermint and ginger varieties.

I’ve purchased Websters Tea,The Tea Thief blends, and tleaft, but (kinda annoyingly) I can’t get past the big international brand, T2. Their Just Peppermint and Ginger & Lemongrass is superb.

What kiwi tea brands are as good as, if not better than T2? I know I haven’t so much as scratched the surface of what we have!

About to fly back to Sydney after a gruelling week back home in NZ helping my Mum get ready to sell her house and move into assisted living in a retirement village. My Mum is for sure in the early stages of dementia and it has been an exhausting, emotional, long, hard, shitty week but the kindness of strangers and casual acquaintances of my Mum has blown me away.

From the lawn mowing guy that came back on his day off to haul away all the weeds I'd pulled from her garden, to the front neighbour that popped in when I asked if we could put up a For Sale sign on the joint fence, the real estate agent who is trying to help us rehome Mums beloved cat, her lovely hairdresser and the ladies at the bank, everyone has been so so kind and helpful and it has made such a difference and helped get through these past few days and I'm so grateful.

Thankyou fellow Kiwis, keep being awesome and looking out for each other, you never know when that kind word or small gesture is going to really help a stranger 💕

Title says it all - literally being scammed by one of the biggest broadband / power companies in nz.

I pay for broadband. Thats it. My bill is $66 a month. It says so in every invoice, on the app, etc. I should only be paying $66 a month.

But the first bill I got was about $200. They had added an early termination fee. I called them, they said it was a mistake and reversed it. The next month, same happens again. I call again and this time ask for an email copy stating that I don't owe them this fee, never got sent anything but the charge was reversed. Happened again the next month.

Happened again with this months bill, but they charged it twice. My bill was $450. I called immediately and said I'm sick of it, I haven't terminated any contracts and they need to sort it out. They said they'd fix it and that they credited my account. I said thank you and asked for an email stating all this - I obviously wasn't sent anything.

Checked the app and they had credited me $250, so my bill was still $206. I first submitted a detailed complaint, stating how it was happening every month and they were refusing to fix it. I waited a couple days and got a response that basically said "we've credited you to fix this mistake, if you have anymore questions please call us"

So I called again today. Man on the phone said that the second credit was "still being processed" despite the fact that the first one went through immediately. I asked why it wasn't all credited at once and why it had to be two seperate credits. He didn't have an answer.

He then told me that the second credit (the remaining $140) would not be applied until NEXT months bill. He told me that for this months bill, I need to just pay the $66 and the remaining $140 will be taken off my next bill. I told him this sounded dodgy and asked if I'll be charged late fees for this. He said they'd be waived, but obviously I do not believe this. I asked him for an email copy of everything he told me and once again he told me it's all in THEIR notes, so I don't need a copy. Awesome.

I'm just wondering now if I can take legal action for this, or what my next steps should be. No, I can't switch companies as I'm in a year long contract for my broadband and I refuse to actually pay their ridiculous termination fee. I'm so sick of dealing with this every single month because they can't get it together.

What can I do?

Why not just start the auction at the desired reserve amount, and let it run? Personally, it get put off be auctions that have an unknown reserve. I often don't even put them on my watchlist, evenif I'minterestedin the thing.

What's the actual or perceived benefit of having a reserve, and starting the bidding below (sometimes far below) that amount?

Amusing comments on this trademe auction prompted to post the question:

Hi all,

I live in New Zealand and have been struggling with dandruff. It affects not just my scalp but also the skin under my beard, and it can get pretty bad. I was told that hot or warm showers could be the cause, but I’ve been taking cold showers every day for the last 3 months and haven’t seen any improvement.

What do you think could be causing this, and what should I do to get rid of it?

I'm curious about the moments in New Zealand's history that stand out to you. Whether it's witnessing a major historical event, experiencing life in a different era, or meeting a famous figure, where would you go and why? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and the reasons behind your choices!

I received a call from an IHC telefundraiser today, after avoiding their calls for the past year. The last time we spoke was a year ago when I had to cancel my $30/month donation due to the rising cost of living. Today, when I finally answered, the caller was quite rude, attempting to guilt me into donating again by saying things like, 'Don’t you feel bad for not helping?' and suggesting I could just give up one food item per week to afford the donation. Even after I mentioned I was busy and driving, she persisted and wouldn’t let me off the phone. I’ve blocked their number before, but they seem to keep calling from different numbers. How can I stop these calls when I’ve already said no?

How about the New Zealand media start calling all these government budget cuts as they are? In global terms what our coalition government is doing is called austerity. The govt can dress it up as something else but what they're doing is exactly the definition of the word.

Thank you. From the bottom of my animal-loving heart, thank you. After learning that landlords in New Zealand are not allowed to ask for any kind of pet bond or additional security deposit, I have an even greater appreciation for the few kind souls who are willing to shoulder that risk to allow renting families to have a home with their pets. I am so glad that there is coming legislation to allow for pet bonds, because it seems like a fair way to offset that burden. Until then, THANK YOU, PET-FRIENDLY LANDLORDS! For being unobligatorily kind <3
