I have just been told that my kids' schools will be affected by government's spend cuts. No more hot meals will be delivered to schools from the start of next year. I believe only primary schools will be still getting them. This is absolutely ridiculous! Mamy families tely on those meals! We know that good quality meal are fundamental human need! Not only for physical growth but for mental development! It's not a rocket science! I'm getting really fed up!

Hi, I'm just curious. Given the proposed rule for building 60m2 granny flats with a toilet and kitchen will not require resource consent, does that mean that if you own 10 acres in Whenuapai you could cover it with hundreds of granny flats?

I have been asking Pharmac for updates on the potential funding of lisdexamphetamine (Vyvanse) for a while, and I received the email below.

This medication currently costs around $100 p/month, if it's even available. If you are one of the many thousands of New Zealanders diagnosed with ADHD, please have a look and provide feedback before October 3. Access to this medication should be for everyone, not only those who can afford it.

Tēnā koe

Pharmac is now consulting publicly on a proposal to fund lisdexamfetamine for the treatment of ADHD and to remove the renewal criteria for stimulant treatments - methylphenidate, dexamfetamine and modafinil.

I know this will be of interest to you and your networks, and I invite you to share this information so that as many people as possible are able to provide feedback. The feedback we receive is very important for the funding proposal we will take to Pharmac’s Board for a decision.

Consultation on the funding proposal for lisdexamfetamine opens on Thursday 12 September and closes on Thursday 26 September 2024. Consultation on the removal of the renewal criteria opens on Thursday 12 September and closes on Thursday 3 October 2024.

More information about Pharmac’s proposal, including how to provide feedback, is at:

These proposals were developed following advice from clinicians and people living with ADHD. Pharmac is committed to funding medicines that help people live good, healthy lives with their whānau and communities.

After we have considered the feedback received in the public consultation, the funding proposal will go to Pharmac’s Board, or a delegate, for a decision. If approved, we expect that lisdexamfetamine will be available, and the renewal criteria will be removed, from 1 December 2024.

We will keep Pharmac’s website updated as the proposal progresses but if you have any questions, you are also welcome to contact us at [enquiry@pharmac.govt.nz](mailto:enquiry@pharmac.govt.nz).

Avocados are 29 cents each at my local PaknSave. How many should I buy? I feel like I should buy at least $2.90 worth. Part of me wants to buy 100.

I'm not sure if this is news to anyone, but I found it interesting considering the current governments attitude towards oil and gas exploration, roading, the Clean Car Discount, and EVs/PHEVs in general.

Some highlights from his CV:

I am a barrister sole with activities in two main areas:

  • Acting as a consultant and adviser to participants in the oil and gas exploration industry; and
  • Acting as one of several Chief Crown Negotiators for the Office of Treaty Settlement ...

During the period from April 2007 to November 2011 I was based in Melbourne, Australia in the role of Managing Director of a group of privately owned oil and gas exploration companies which then had an extensive portfolio of petroleum exploration permits in the offshore waters surrounding Australia

...

My role in Melbourne involved the active oversight and management of all the activities of the permit holding companies including capital raising, the conduct of sales and acquisitions of permit interests, negotiation of joint venture arrangements, negotiation and monitoring of exploration activities (rig contracts, seismic acquisition contracts etc.)

...

Since returning to New Zealand in late 2011, I assumed the prime responsibility for the oversight and management of the activities of Octanex in New Zealand as well as my role as a director of the parent company.

I also act as a consultant to another New Zealand based oil and gas exploration and production company in respect of its exploration activities in Chile.

Most recently I have been appointed as the Chairman of New Zealand Energy Corp, and oil and gas explorer and producer listed on the Toronto Ventures Exchange (TSX-V code: NZ). New Zealand Energy Corp has a portfolio of exploration and mining permits in the onshore areas of Taranaki and is the operator of the Waihapa production station.

...

I am currently Chairman of New Zealand Energy Corp and a director of Octanex NL.

Anyways here is his CV with PII removed: James Willis CV

Obtained from the NZ Bar Association website.

Long story as short as possible.. I remember sitting with my mum at the pub with a razzy and coke and a pack of salt n Vinny's watching her tap away on the poker machines ( literally poker) that's all they had in the early 90s I think it's had me since then.. I'm approaching 40 rapidly and gambling had literally ruined my life completely. I have had times chunks if months or years without gambling and they were most definitely the best times, I know I should look at that and use it for motivation but after losing my mum in 2019 my life had just kept going in a downward spiral hitting rock bottom and basically staying there. I feel hopeless as a mother money is already tight and I just make it worse, I feel like I have 0 control over anything anymore. I have reached out to numerous agencies PGF, city mission, my doctor and have also asked for budgeting help even total money management because that's what I need, the family I do have already treat me like I'm a piece of shit so I won't ask them for help... The biggest predicament I have is that I only gamble online now and it's just really accessable even if I take all the precautions I can still find a way.. any helpful advice is appreciated.

Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well. I am not sure if this is the appropriate platform to seek advice, but I had a rather unpleasant experience today.

I am feeling quite frustrated because I am at a loss for what I could have done differently in this situation.

To provide some context, a friend of mine who is currently overseas required assistance with making a delivery. Since I was available at the time, I willingly offered to help him out.

Upon reaching the delivery location, I noticed that the tires of the hand trolley used for transporting the products were flat(owner). In an attempt to bring this to owner attention, I mentioned it to him.

However, for some inexplicable reason, he began swearing and yelling at me out of nowhere simply for pointing out this issue.

He proceeded to assert that since I was providing a service, it was my responsibility to deal with the situation. It is important to clarify that I never expressed any reservations about dealing with flat tires. I would have been perfectly content to carry the crates one at a time and place them outside his freezer.

In an effort to defuse the situation, I attempted to pacify him and requested that he calm down. Unfortunately, he responded by shouting back at me and telling me not to tell him what to do.

As the situation escalated, I chose to remain silent and continued to carry the remaining crates into his shop, one at a time. I made the decision not to use the trolley with the flat tires.

Despite the verbal abuse I endured from this individual, I maintained my composure and completed the delivery.

The next thing that came to my attention was a phone call from my friend, informing me that the elderly gentleman was considering filing a police complaint against me for verbally mistreating him.

Please believe me when I say that it required all of my self-control to maintain my composure and composure & I did not say a single bad thing to him.

If it were up to me, I would have returned with the products immediately when he began to speak to me like that but since I was assisting my colleague and did not wish for him to suffer any loss of business or sales due to my actions, I made the decision to keep the matter to myself..

But I find it difficult to understand how this individual can blatantly fabricate such falsehoods and attempt to portray me as the perpetrator in this situation. Furthermore, the audacity to threaten legal action against me is quite astonishing, considering I am the actual victim in this matter.

By the way, this was entirely a voluntary service. I am not receiving any compensation. I was simply doing this out of goodwill for my friend. Though it seems it backfired 😔
