Recently the ACCC in Oz brought a case against supermarkets about marking prices as discounted or "specials" when actually that price is the normal price of the product. I feel that the supermarkets here do that too. One product for an example that seems to be always on "special" at our New World is Boring Oat milk, so when it actually went off special recently I took a picture because I had never seen it priced like that before at $5:15. Sure enough within 10 days it was back to being "on special" at $4.29.

I think that $4ish is the usual retail for this product, and the listed price of $5:15 is just BS to make people think the product is discounted. Have you noticed this with other products you usually buy?

Christopher Luxon said for his 2025 plan curriculum will not be involving music and arts and It is not a focus?!?!?

I think personally they should add it back in! Even though people can put their noses up and say its not important it is.

Arts has lots of educational benefits and a positive impact in the child, it provides opportunities for brain development, mastery and builds self esteem (mental health is a problem for all ages even the young ones people!). It also develops their cognitive, social-emotional and multi-sensory skills.

Plus it's fun, engaging and challenging and kids love challenges.

And by the way when I say arts I mean

  1. drama
  2. painting/drawing
  3. film making

This was a rant ( a bit ) but I wanted to turn it into a discussion.

I work at a traffic management company here in nz and today the amount of assholes really pushed me to the edge, I got verbally abused, finger pulled, angry/disgusted looks and rude comments. To those who have ever done this in their lives you need to grow up it's not our fault, we are just doing our jobs the way that we need to so everybody gets home safe. We are as nice as we can be(at least in my branch) and we try to keep everyone held up as little as possible but if in those 5 minutes that you are minorly inconvenienced gets you that angry you have serious problems and need help. To those who do respect and are kind to traffic workers you are amazing and we appreciate you greatly.

All staff working for Fletcher’s building products Distribution division have been instructed that all WFH will cease as of the 4th of November and we are all expected to return to the office 5 days a week. I really feel sorry for some of my co workers who have had WFH arrangements in place pre covid, most of whom are caregivers, etc. So much for the company’s so called flexible working, which is still being advertised on all of their job adverts… I guess this is what happens when we get an ex Amazon CEO as the head of the division

It's finally happening! It has become an almost daily circus in my office building's carpark, where nearly every tenant rolls in with a massive SUV or ute. Getting in or out of these behemoths has turned into a hilarious game of musical chairs. The parking lines are just not spaced out for these larger vehicles. People are asking others to move their oversized rides just so they can swing open their doors! This leads to mini "cascades" of vehicles shifting back and forth in an awkward dance until everybody is finally in or out. The dance is only broken by those who parked up in smaller normal-sized cars.

Half rant half question, split up and having to sell. Have a house worth roughly 550k and fees (excluding artizo) are around 20-30k and most of those places have a marketing fee on top.

Am I just ignorant in believing their jobs are to market and sell a home? With trademe these days being where a good chunk of people go to look for houses I can't see the cost to value ratio being worth.

What are we actually paying for?

Recently moved in Auckland. I previously lived in Canada, rurally. One of my many challenges is I am always cold here. Inside, outside, and seems ridiculous. I have warm clothes, and in my Canadian home I would not use heating in this temperature. I am cold inside of the house and outside. Wish I had brought my winter/ski jacket.

Whyyyy???
