Ported/rewrote the missing drivers for the Mi Max 2 (oxygen, MSM8953) with AI help. Camera and phone calls both work now. Only the loudspeaker is still broken.

Everything is up for anyone who wants to install it, or to understand the changes and manually write the patches for mainline.

Hello, I'm considering Nura for a couple of VERY old PCs (AMD Athlon XP old) to serve as public clients in a local library. Before doing that, I wanted to test the installer and the system in general on a virtual machine managed with virt-manager. I downloaded the installer image (20260925-1250-postmarketOS-edge-os-installer-10-generic-x86_64-lts.img), which the documentation says can be flashed on a usb stick with balena etcher and the like to install the OS, and I "inserted" it in the CD drive of the VM. However, when I switch on the VM it says that no bootable media is present. I'm not aware of etcher adding booting files to a flash, so I was expecting the image to be bootable. How can I do this? I know that qemu images exist, but I want to test the installer myself.

Thank you in advance to everyone who'll reply.

I dusted off my Ouya which has a very old install of postmarketOS from several years ago. I see now with Nura, the initramfs searches for rootfs UUID.

If I change something with the kernel then do pmbootstrap install to compile and create new initramfs. The new initramfs won't boot because the UUIDs have changed.

Also it seems to break the system even if I try to boot the prior working initramfs. So the system partition needs to be flashed with the new system image. Basically a fresh install every time some small thing changes with the kernel.

It was easy before because any postmarketOS boot.img could be booted from. Does that workflow still exist?

I think the only way to add mods in lemmy is to have them post into a lemmy thread of that community first, so here we go :3 only mods who were in the previous community will be accepted currently.

Hello lemmy and Nura :D.

First time being around these parts of the web. I am a MX Linux daily driver and would like to dualboot with Nura on PC. I already exported my pmbootstrap'd split images and installed them to the last 2 partitions of my SSD with Gnome Disks (idk if it counts as flashing, pls view the attached image).

Updating grub with # update-grub seemed to work, it printed pmOS being found at sda7, but trying to boot off that gets stuck. I tried talking to a LLM to solve the issue, and my conclusion is that neither does it know well enough about pmOS/Nura - I rather not waste my time in it's hallucination, and also the way I try to setup Nura is probably not documented anywhere (or maybe I suck at reading wiki). For short, It has made me aware that os-prober does not know what to do with Nura, and that manually writing Nura to grub configs is the way.

Need a hand with that, please... thanks.
