I got into free and open source software, you can take an idea about it from fsf by watching the video https://www.fsf.org/about/what-is-free-software

So, I have been in this rabbit hole for years now. And I convinced myself that using non-free software is haram and I shouldn't do it, however when I looked it up I found no discussion about it In Muslim communities anywhere, no fatwas about it. But how can that be, don't anyone else see big tech companies evil? Shouldn't Muslims use these free as in freedom software instead of Google and Facebook products? Shouldn't products by Facebook, openai and Microsoft and the rest of them be haram with existence of free alternatives that respect user privacy and freedom? Why there's no discussion about it at all?

When I first started working on OSS projects, I really struggled with documentation. But after a lot of trial and error, I learned a lot about writing clear and helpful docs. Working on several OSS projects has also taught me just how essential good documentation is to the success of a project. So, I'd like to share with you some of the tips that have helped me improve (in the hope that they will save you the same headaches I've experienced lol):

• Guide first : Start with simple guides that focus on common use cases to help users get started quickly.
• Show, don’t tell: Use screenshots & screencasts early & often to visually demonstrate features.
• More code than text: Prioritize clear, working code examples over lengthy text explanations.
• Use plausible data: Craft realistic data in examples to help users better relate & apply them to their projects. I use faker.js for this.
• Examples as stories: Write examples in Storybook to ensure accuracy & consistency between code & visuals.
• The reference follows the guide: If an advanced user is looking for all possible options of a component, they can find them in the same place as the guide.
• Pages can be scanned quickly: Break content into short, digestible sections for quick navigation and easy reading.

Here's a doc example where I've tried to implement these best practices.

To be completely precise, some she reverse engineers herself, others she finds an implementation someone has already done and just creates a UI for them. Still very cool.

In the video, she then describes how she did it, tools and all.

Krita 5.3/6.0 is the result of many years of work by the Krita developers. Some features have been rewritten from the ground up, others make their first appearance.

Enjoy the completely new text feature: on canvas editing, full opentype support, text flowing into shapes. It is now easier than ever to create vector-based panels for comic pages. Tools got extended: for instance, the fill tool now can close gaps. The liquify mode of the transform tool is much faster. There are new filters: a propagate colors filter and a reset transparent filter. Support for HDR painting has been improved. The recorder docker can now work in real time. There is improved support for file formats, like support for text objects in PSD files. And much, much, much more!

Depending which version of Qt and KDE Frameworks you build, the same source will result in one of the other. Both versions are almost functionally identical, with 6.0.0 having more Wayland functionality. But note that since Krita 6 is still considered rather experimental.
