"The findings, emerging from a landmark series of scientific papers, suggest that administrative records from the Gaza Ministry of Health (MoH) represent a conservative “floor” rather than an overcount, and provide a rigorous bedrock to the scale of Palestinian loss."

army launched intense airstrikes and heavy artillery shelling in the Gaza Strip on Thursday on the second day of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, despite the Oct. 10 ceasefire agreement, witnesses said.

Israeli fighter jets carried out heavy strikes on eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City in the north, alongside artillery shelling in the surrounding areas, witnesses told Anadolu.

The Israeli army also fired illumination flares east of the Shujaiya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. In the southern cities of Khan Younis and Rafah, witnesses reported at least two Israeli airstrikes in eastern areas under Israeli military control.

The Trump administration is planning to build a 5,000-person military base in Gaza, sprawling more than 350 acres, according to Board of Peace contracting records reviewed by the Guardian.

The site is envisioned as a military operating base for a future International Stabilization Force (ISF), planned as a multinational military force composed of pledged troops. The ISF is part of the newly created Board of Peace which is meant to govern Gaza. The Board of Peace is chaired by Donald Trump and led in part by his son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The plans reviewed by the Guardian call for the phased construction of a military outpost that will eventually have a footprint of 1,400 metres by 1,100 metres, ringed by 26 trailer-mounted armored watch towers, a small arms range, bunkers, and a warehouse for military equipment for operations. The entire base will be encircled with barbed wire.

Mona Juul and her husband Terje Rod-Larsen, two significant Norwegian figures involved in the accords, appeared as close contacts of the late billionaire and sexual offender.

The latest disclosures have also drawn renewed attention on documents related to the agreement that have been missing for over 33 years. In Norway, the narrative after the accords has been used to portray the kingdom as a peace-nurturing nation.

But in reality the agreement has been a failure and a catastrophe for the Palestinian people, as Israel’s settler colonisation continues with impunity and tens of thousands of Palestinians are killed in Gaza and the West Bank.

The myth making about Norway’s role in Oslo was conveyed in a 2017 play titled Oslo, which was financed by Jeffrey Epstein, as well as a movie of the same name produced by Steven Spielberg in 2021.

But the reality was that real peace was never on the agenda, according to Waage.

“The only problem is just that there was no peace, and my research shows that the Oslo Accords was a deal created solely on Israel's premises, where Norway was willingly running a duty for Israel,” she said.

An Israel Defense Forces soldier was killed in an incident of “friendly fire” in the southern Gaza Strip overnight, the military announced on Wednesday.

The soldier was named as Staff Sgt. Ofri Yafe, 21, of the Paratroopers Brigade’s Reconnaissance Unit, from HaYogev, a moshav in the Jezreel Valley.

According to a preliminary IDF probe, the incident occurred as two forces from the Paratroopers Brigade set out for routine mop-up operations near the Yellow Line in the Khan Younis area, aimed at clearing Hamas infrastructure.

At around 2 a.m., one of the forces mistakenly identified the second group of soldiers as an enemy and opened fire.

Eighteen defendants allegedly involved in a Palestine Action raid on an Israeli-owned arms factory in the UK will no longer face charges of aggarvated burglary, after six others were acquitted of the same charges.

At Woolwich Crown Court in London on Wednesday, prosecutor Deanna Heer KC said the Crown Prosecution Service had "reconsidered the sufficiency of the evidence" and would offer no evidence on that charge. The 18 will continue to face other charges in connection with the alleged raid.

The move follows the acquittal of six other defendants on charges of aggravated burglary in connection with the same break-in at an Elbit Systems plant near Bristol in August 2024. Heer confirmed on Wednesday that those six defendants face a retrial at a date yet to be fixed on all charges which had not ended in verdicts, including criminal damage and violent disorder.

They were held for around 18 months on remand - in excess of standard UK pre-trial custody time limits of six months.

Western medical workers in the United Kingdom and the United States say they have been placed on ‘Israeli’ denial lists after giving public testimony about the deteriorating humanitarian and health conditions in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing war.

Affected doctors believe the refusals are punitive, linked to media appearances or first-hand accounts describing injuries, attacks on medical facilities, and the collapse of Gaza’s health system, according to the report.

Germany’s complicity in the boundless cruelty of the genocide in Gaza, its unconditional support for the ongoing Nakba in the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem, and its backing of Zionist wars of aggression against Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Iran have led to a dramatic collapse of political integrity among the country’s leadership — both in its international obligations and in its respect for its own citizens.

Having made itself an accomplice of the Zionist regime, Germany’s highest representatives have adopted its “political” style, pursuing policies that lack decency and drift ever further from democratic ideals.

On Instagram these days, Abdel Rahim Haj Yahya is back to documenting his daily activities for his 117,000 followers. It is hard to believe he was released from prison only a few weeks ago, after serving more than two years for social media posts uploaded around the time of the October 7 attacks — one of the harshest punishments imposed on an Israeli citizen for offenses of this kind.

Haj Yahya, a 23-year-old social media influencer from the Palestinian city of Tayibe in central Israel, was arrested on Oct. 10, 2023. In an instant, one of the most prominent online voices among Palestinian citizens of Israel — posting about political developments in the West Bank and Gaza, and distributing gifts to Palestinian children in hospitals and refugee camps — disappeared.

The 27 months that Haj Yahya served in Israeli security prisons left a deep mark on him. He lost about half his body weight, but equally conspicuous was the shift in the content of his social media posts. Since his release, he has not posted about human rights abuses or aid activities for Palestinian children in hospitals and camps; indeed, he now avoids political references altogether. He has learned what is permissible to discuss inside Israel, and what is better left unsaid.

Haj Yahya spoke to +972 Magazine about his arrest, interrogation, and imprisonment, and how the terms of his release are meant to send a clear message about the limits of Palestinian speech.

Beirut, Lebanon – Current and former United Nations staffers have spoken out in defence of Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, after she faced attacks from a pro-Israeli NGO and several European government officials.

Albanese – who, like all special rapporteurs, is appointed by the UN Human Rights Council but is not a UN staff member – has been subjected to repeated attacks from pro-Israeli figures and bodies, with one of the most fervent critics being UN Watch, a pro-Israel NGO.

The UN Watch, which is not a UN body, spread an edited clip of Albanese, 48, speaking at the Doha Forum earlier this month, in which the NGO falsely said she had called Israel “the common enemy of humanity”.

Albanese’s actual words were: “We now see that we as a humanity have a common enemy and the respect of fundamental freedoms is the last peaceful avenue, the last peaceful toolbox that we have to regain our freedom.”

A French group of international lawyers has filed a report with the Paris public prosecutor accusing the country's top diplomat of disseminating false information about the United Nations' special rapporteur on Palestine, Francesca Albanese.

The Association of Lawyers for the Respect of International Law (Jurdi) said on Thursday that it had taken legal action following comments by France's foreign minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, who called for Albanese's resignation earlier this week based on a misquoted version of her speech in Doha on 7 February.

Barrot had been responding to a question from Renaissance MP Caroline Yadan, who had previously wrongly accused Albanese of describing Israel as the "common enemy of humanity" during a virtual speech at the Al Jazeera Forum in the Qatari capital.

Palestinian Authority (PA) forces shot dead a three-year-old girl and her teenage brother in the occupied West Bank city of Tubas on Sunday.

According to local media, Palestinian security forces opened fire on the car of Samer Samara, who is reportedly wanted by the Israeli army, as he was travelling with his wife and children.

His 16-year-old son, Yazan, was killed at the scene. His three-year-old daughter, Ronza, later died from critical head wounds.

Samara was shot in the legs and subsequently arrested by PA forces. His current condition remains unknown.
