Just curious how spread out we are. I'm up in West Yorkshire myself.

Edited to add: Hi /all! Please remember this is a UK-based community, just in case you're confused. But you are of course welcome. :)

(Please remember that anything you post on the Fediverse might stay on other instances forever, even if you delete it from yours. I'd recommend you not get any more specific than county or local authority level.)

Ah yes, my favourite European country. They must be, they compete in the Eurovision after all. And usually with a better song than us. :)

ahahahahaha i think the thing is Australia does have European immigration so I guess that lets us into Eurovision?

Really? I thought it was just that the Aussies loved to watch Eurovision from the peanut gallery, then asked if they could come and play, and we collectively said yes we'd love to have you. :)

As a self-certified Eurovision fanatic I feel qualified to butt in here.

That's basically what happened, yes. Eurovision is open to all members of the European Broadcasting Union, and Australia became associate members by special arrangement. The EBU membership rather than a requirement to be in actual geographical Europe is also how we've had various other countries like Israel or even Morocco in past contests.
