On the one hand, I can’t find much to like about Billy Corgan.

On the other hand, this album was a big deal for me, as a budding musician and as a Chicago boy.

At this stage in my life, I can still enjoy this album a lot, and with a lot more appreciation for Jimmy and D’arcy as a rhythm section.

Growing up my best friend was the nephew of Billy's roadie (as well as many others). I got to go backstage to a bunch of shows, but at 14 years old I was going to smashing pumpkins shows and Billy was such an asshole to us. Darcy however was amazing to us always. Had a huge crush on her because of that.

That’s awesome! Not surprising re: Billy.

I thought I had a cool SP connection but yours is way better. I never met them but one of my first jobs, when I was like 16, was at a small magazine publisher in St. Charles, I think - basic basic late 90s IT. My boss, during my orientation, told me that the last guy in my job was the lead guitarist from the Smashing Pumpkins, but he’d quit on short notice when they got big. Observing by my overall look that I was an aspiring musician, he said drily, “I hope you aren’t any good”.

He needn’t have worried, but I wasn’t very good at IT support either.

Edit: also had a crush on D’arcy, if that didn’t go without saying for a boy of my generation

That's still pretty cool. And to the Darcy thing. Believe it or not hers were the first real boobs I ever saw lol. At one show we were being yelled at by Billy for eating the finger sandwiches and she came rushing in to tell him off but was wearing a mostly see through shirt that was baggy and cut off at the sleeves. Total accident but it totally was the reason I liked her so much lol.

I most certainly remember those…shirts.
