I'm using the app for about a week and like it a lot but it uses a lot of battery (sometimes about 30% in 1.5h). Is this normal or could it be some config problem?

Are you using light theme or dark theme?

This might be settings related. Could you please DM me with your app settings? You can generate a dump of your settings by: Tap the three dots button (bottom right) on the home screen. Tap Settings. Tap Import & export settings. Tap Export settings.Tap Copy to clipboard.

Update

I did some basic profiling of the app and didnt see anything that stood out to me. Resource usage by the app seems to be within what you'd expect.

Thank you for providing me your settings. My current hunch is that the high battery drain is primarily due to "Mark posts as read on scroll". The logic for this feature isn't super optimized so I do have some optimizations planned for the next release.

There are some things that cannot really be optimized though. Specifically, when marking a post as read a network call must be fired to tell the server the post is read. If you tend to scroll very fast this can generated a large number of network calls which is generally not great for battery usage.

Anyways I'll follow up here once the release is out.

Hello again. I just released a new version of the app with some fixes related to performance/battery usage. Could you please give it a try and see if it helps with battery usage? The release is live as v1.58.2.

Hey, I'm using the newest version and it seems the power drain problem is still there. I browsed for 1 hour and the app used 20% battery
