Rural retail chain company Tractor Supply are facing calls for a boycott for, amongst other things, donating money to diversity and inclusion causes, which included projects that support LGBTQ+ youth.

Tractor Supply is far from the only retail chain that has faced boycott calls over DEI and Pride initiatives in recent years, though a rural supply company is certainly an unusual target for the right.

In fact, just today, right-wingers decided to take aim at IKEA’s rainbow Pride charity cake. To mark Pride Month 2024, the UK branch of the Swedish furniture chain announced its popular rainbow cake is back in its restaurants and will be sold throughout June, with 100 per cent of the profits going to LGBT+ Switchboard.

Lol, those hicks aren't actually going to stop shopping at tractor supply.

- someone from a town with those hicks.

Right? Like... I'd like to see them ACTUALLY boycott tractor supply. In a lot of places, that's sort of the only store around.

Now we just need to get boycotts started on Walmart and Family Dollar, and the hicks will all have to switch back to subsistence farming or something.

I guess our continued plan of just waiting for all the boomers to die is still the only plan we're going with?

Gen X and Millennial conservatives are far from nonexistent. They're the ones leading the charge on garbage like this.

Conservatives don't want anything to change. Time to get rid of them

The paradox of tolerance is that you can not have a tolerant society if you tolerate the intolerant.

[–] HogsTooth@lemmy.world 13 points 5 months ago

Tolerance as a social contract fixes this. "We will tolerate you if you tolerate us." That keeps us from welcoming traitors.

The problem is that the more you fight change, the more you change things. Your movement becomes more and more focused on resisting change, and less focused on preserving any good qualities it once had. It's an inescapable bit of futility, hard coded into the human condition.

It's worse than that. Conservatives want everything to change. Back to the early 1800's.

Tractor Supply understands their actual customer base: farm queers

Me reading the headline thinking "It can't be Tractor Supply..."

Me reading the headline thinking, "It can only be Tractor Supply."

Man, I would love it if these assholes didn't shop there. So many times I've run into one when shopping there and they are spouting their bullshit while buying almost nothing. I'm like, uhhh, can you leave the cashier alone so I can spend several hundred dollars here?

I swear, somewhere along the line, we all ended up living in Pleasantville.
