Just received my Miyoo A30. Ordered from AliExpress and took exactly a week to reach me here in the USA.

I wanted a micro handheld to pick up and play during downtime at work. I have a few other retro handhelds but they are a bit bigger. Saw one on AliExpress for $34 delivered so figured that if it did end up sucking, I wouldn’t be out of pocket.

I wasn’t expecting much from the A30, especially after seeing the reviews, but i was very pleasantly surprised. Mine did not come with a card, but I put together a 32gig card with Spruce 1.4.3 and a handful of my favourite games.

Build quality is just fine, buttons feel good, and even the analogue stick has a bit of resistance, though it is a bit jerky.

At this price I was expecting the screen to be one of those awful cheap passive LCD ones, but I can say that it is excellent, no colour cast, whites are on the warm side (which I prefer) and colors are very bright and saturated. Even the black level of the LCD is excellent, hardly any of that sort of blue/grey you get with cheap panels.

Performance is great. I’m playing SNES, GameBoy Color and Pico8 on it and it runs very well indeed. I see a lot of reviewers grumbling about PS1 and N64 performance, but I really think this handheld wasn’t really designed with those consoles in mind.

The included case and accessories are a very welcome bonus too. It’s such a neat package you can throw in your bag or large pocket and go.

I would highly recommend one of these to anyone looking for a capable micro handheld. Now I’m off to order another couple to give as Christmas presents!
