Councillors and engineers should be legally able to be held liable for deaths and injuries caused as a result of the road designs that they sign off on not being up to international best-practice for pedestrian and cyclist safety. Especially when they are alerted to the flaws by advocates and choose to do nothing.

What a tragedy! I'm glad this is still getting air time, and I hope they take steps to ensure this doesn't happen again (not just that intersection but across all of Melbourne)
