Open means "uben" in german so

Free Libre Open Source Software is FLUSS in german and that roughly translates to "fucking" and I think that's beautiful.

[–] itslilith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 24 points 1 month ago

Wrong on... pretty much all accounts

[–] SaltyIceteaMaker@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

That is incredibly wrong

  1. "Uben" doesn't exist.
  2. Open means "offen"
  3. "Fluss" would be river or flow or flux
[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Open in German is "offen," and Fluss means "river" (or "flux"), so ... no.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Maybe it was by German standards

[–] RmDebArc_5@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

The book of German humor is incredibly thin.

No it is not, it as an extremely long book with thousands of pages. It just isn’t funny.

[–] superkret@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

It wasn't funny, but fun for Germans, cause it gave them a chance to correct you and explain their language.
