I believe, it's possible to marry women, then you don't have to watch videos on a man's phone. πŸ™ƒ

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

There's this nifty feature on phones now where you can send a link to the other person's phone. My wife and I text each other stuff from the internet all day long.

But then you get to show him all your videos on your phone

So just get married, and watch videos on your wife's phone.

My Chinese girlfriend makes me watch Chinese Xiahongshu (think Instagram reels) videos on her phone with a cracked screen with her. No, I do not understand Chinese.

My wife with Spanish Instagram. But to be fair, I'm on duolingo learning Spanish

"I either don't want people to be interested in or excited about things or I want to gatekeep how they gain their interests"

"Even moreso if it's a man."

More like having a phone shoved to your face to see a meme that is mildly entertaining at best.

True, but in return for her smiling at my memes and nodding politely at my rambling about my various Stars, both Wars and Trek, I stop what I’m doing to watch her capybara TikToks and try to remember what she tells me about the history of Hiphop beefs and how to guess the geographic origin of rappers.

This is what marriage is, and it works. πŸ˜‚

Yeah and sometimes it just rubs off on each other, like I was never the gardening guy but her enthusiasm about it was infectious and now I find myself getting excited about how many tomatoes a single plant can grow or what beautiful colors the tiny corn poppies can produce.

And the other way around - a friend gave me a 'Quark' shirt for my birthday and my girlfriend said 'ugh ferengies are so ugly, couldn't he have given you a Spock shirt, I like him more' and I was soooo proud of her.

You just learn to enjoy their excitement about their boring shit until you start to share the excitement and you start to enjoy the thing too.

My ex would blast Instagram stories while I’m watching a show on tv. That’s fucking annoying

My wife is incapable of not showing me an escalating series of inane youtube videos unless I get rather firm about it.

[–] MajorHavoc@programming.dev 18 points 1 day ago

Relationships are about compromise.

But yeah, maybe not worth it.

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 13 points 1 day ago

Wow at least i have adblock and sponsorblock some people rawdog youtube and that frightens me.

Its cool, we can watch them on the TV instead

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm classy. I make my partner wait while I get it on the TV so they don't have to move.

this is a peeve of mine. we all have these incredibly connected mobile communicators. we all know how to copy and paste a link. if you want me to watch something, send me a link. im happy to review on my device but damn do i hate looking at anyone elses screen.

[–] ScoopMcPoops@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Even the person you love? Because I'll look at anything my girl wants to show me on her phone because I love her and enjoy her company. If you're talking about a stranger (which this post is not talking about) then I get it, too many strangers have shown me porn for me to trust random people when they ask to show me what's on their phone.

Casual sexism is so cute and quirky.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 15 points 1 day ago

It's not gendered behaviour though; not even stereotypically. Works just as well if you flip the genders.
