So if you can charge them with "free" (that would be spoiled otherwise) energy, at say 0.20€/kWh it'd take 575 charges to pay back.

I wonder how many cycles they hold...

Depends on the depth of discharge, but several thousand. You do need to account for round trip efficiency.
