To me it’s an indication of a broken system that cannot be fixed. no one really believes trump is going to fix anything, but they do know that they can curry favor of the power structure through bribery. they know what kind of system it will be and are playing the best hand they have.
essentially we’re screwed, it’s a realization by the money and power structure that come next Jan., we’re in a trump dictatorship.
Remember when he was all "I'm a billionaire, I won't need anyone's money for anything as president" in 2015?

"The Wall Street Journal has identified at least 11 companies and trade associations that are backing the inauguration, which is on track to be the most lucrative ever, after earlier pledging to suspend or reconsider political-action committee donations after Jan. 6," the report states while point out to well-known brands that include "Ford, Intuit, Toyota, Goldman Sachs, General Motors, Bank of America, AT&T and Stanley Black & Decker."

Sadly presidents having corporations donate large sums of money to their inaugurations is not new, although Trump is definitely getting more.
