Summary

An Air Canada Express flight with 73 passengers was evacuated after a landing gear issue during landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

The Bombardier Q400 aircraft came to rest partially on its belly, prompting emergency crews to respond.

No injuries were reported, though passengers were bused off the runway.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the incident, and passenger belongings remain withheld pending the investigation’s conclusion.

Airplanes in general seem to be having a rough time as of late.

Are they really, or is it just that every regular incident makes international news now?

Pretty sure every passenger plane incident has made international news for the past decade or more, basically since the Internet became mainstream with smartphones at a minimum.

The past two years definitely stand out as particularly bad to me though.

Seasonal rush means higher pressure to skip safety checks perhaps?

Visibility / reporting bias is always more likely without deeper info

Have you flipped a coin a thousand times. You would be shocked how often in a row you can get head.

Statistics is fascinating and the universe seems to have a propensity for making very unlikely things happen back to back. Just think back to the guy that won the lottery, and when going back to the same location to film how he did it winning it a second time. In a row...

So I would say that the universe is just making sure that 2024 which started with the first ever A350 hull loss ends with a bang (literally)

Two landing gear failures in a week. Interesting.

Shitty that they would withhold passengers belongings unless it was damaged or would otherwise be necessary for the investigation
