Already deleted all content a couple of years ago and was just lurking. Did notice that it became a chore, especially when boys became prevalent. Forced closure of 3rd party apps was the straw that broke this camels back. It’s a shame because it’s been roughly ten years or so and Reddit truly devolved

Not yet. I will do so by the end of June.

I see no particular need to delete my account or any of its content, personally. I know it's everybody's own decision but frankly it strikes me as kind of needlessly destructive, like torching a restaurant because you no longer enjoy eating there. Other people still do, there's no reason to take it from them.

If Reddit evolves in such a way that I no longer find it useful or enjoy going there, I'll just stop. I'm actually happy if my old data remains useful to others - lots of times I go searching Google for information and wind up in an old Reddit thread, for example.

I value my content and the communities too much (despite its problems). I won't be deleting my account, and definitely not the content I posted.

I don't know yet what will happen to my usage and contribution level. Maybe it will only be on desktop PC from now on. We will see.

I am going to wait until the blackout in two days I think. If reddit doesn't back down on their decision I am going to delete the app.

After six or seven years on Reddit, I finally deleted it and have removed it from my bookmarks. It's a little unusual trying to find communities for certain things I only used Reddit for, but I like it nonetheless.

I'm debating it, but deleting content seems pretty much a lot of work.

I don’t think I’m going to delete, but I don’t think I will engage.

I've been lurking on regularly cycled usernames, so that was pretty easily done. I haven't deleted Slide yet, but since it'll stop working on 30th, that's a given. I'm going to try my best to help build up the niche communities like hardware focused ones on lemmy

I plan to, but I also plan to do it fully - going through saved links and bookmarking or documenting relevant recipes/guides/etc, removing all the comment history, etc etc.

I'm not really good at doing that in a timely manner. I have so many big projects, and smaller projects, that have been postponed for so long. It's just another thing on the list.

I've been a long time user on Reddit. Just deleted all my posts and comments (been mostly a lurker, so not much there) using shreddit, then deleted my Reddit account and uninstalled the app (Boost - loved it) from my phone. I'm done with Reddit, the AMA and behaviour of u/spez and the other Reddit admins was just too much.

I hope I get some time back from stupidly browsing Reddit, but also don't want to miss out on some of the communities (r/adventofcode specifically, hope they make it over to Lemmy at some point).

[–] marcellogalhardo@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

I didn't delete it but I stop using it for now. I will hold for a few months to see how things develop and decide what to do next. I use Reddit mostly due to Developer communities (Android, Kotlin, etc) which doesn't seem to exist in Lemmy, yet.

I hope the communities migrate here with time but overall, I'm finding the servers a little confusing and the Android app has space to improve.

[–] IEatChickens@feddit.nl 1 points 2 years ago

I am also hesitant to remove everthing. Maybe someone for example has the same question I once had. If Reddit holds on to their decisions I will probably delete the app though.

[–] MayorMcCheese@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Yep, I had been teetering, I like the idea of a FOSS public solution. I still fondly remember nntp before it was ruined. It reminds me of Reddit in many ways.

I'm holding out with some copium for now. There's some local subs and niche subs that I'd like to still follow that will likely not migrate. I'll likely switch to RSS and old.reddit only once RIF dies and Lemmy and mastodon will likely be my mobile social media. I don't mind using multiple social media apps, but it'd be great to have it all in one place.

I've wiped my author account and main account.

But I won't delete the accounts because fuck them, they don't get to recycle those. I could delete the account under this name, because it was just my alt for moderating, and it's such an inside joke that only maybe five people would get that it isn't worth deleting.

[–] br0da@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Haven’t pulled the plug but edited then deleted all of my comment history, unsaved all of my saves, and got situated with Lemmy (testing Mlem), in preparation. I’ll pull the plug on the 30th. Let me just say the transition so far has been better than expected. It took a bit for the sign up to get approved and the servers to catch up, but I think we will be just fine.

[–] DarthRedLeader@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

After the AMA yesterday, I made the decision to delete all of my posts and comments. I'm not sure I see a reason todeletee my account altogether as I think not giving traffic to Reddit is more important, so I left everything else the way it is. Maybe one of these days I'll go back through and delete everything for good.

All that said, like most other people here, I have no intention of going back, especially after yesterday, unless there's some sort of drastic change which is very unlikely.

[–] roi@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Just deleted it, I hope the future for the fediverse goes down right.

[–] deadcade@lemmy.deadca.de 1 points 2 years ago

Deleted account history like many others (after a GPDR and manual export of everything). Going to delete my account just before the 30th, as I won't be able to use it anyway. For now I'm still somewhat lurking on Reddit, so to keep my list of subscribed subreddits, I have not deleted my account yet.
