Deleted yesterday right after the post from Christian detailing the scummy way in which Reddit was treating him.

[–] Csynthare@lemmy.fmhy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Yep. I waited too long on Twitter. Not making the same mistake again.

[–] br0da@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

UPDATE: I pulled the plug

[–] lixus98@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

I already deleted all the content of my account, I will probably delete the account when boost dies on June 30th.

[–] Savion@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

I'll have no choice but to delete RIF after it shuts down, so I'll probably make the tough decision after that.

I abandon my Reddit account every month or so and start over

I haven’t yet. I’ll probably keep using Reddit until June 30th besides maybe the protest days next week. I’m not sure if I’ll delete my accounts after June 30th or not though in case I need them for a one-off use case in the future.

I will say that it’d be easier to delete my accounts now than a couple years ago. A couple years ago, I was trying to make sure I never lost access to my original Reddit account by changing my password to be more secure, but my password manager failed to save the new password. I got locked out of my original nearly 10 year old Reddit account with a bit of a rare username. The only reason I have access to it now is it’s still logged in through Apollo, but I guess I’ll lose it forever on June 30th. I guess it doesn’t matter if I’m trying to move here anyways.

I might delete it when Boost kicks it at the end of the month, we'll see.

[–] ebranty@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

I did,it was hard cause it had 10 years of memories on it but these new changes and the way leadership is acting I know if I where to not delete them I would come crawling back at some point rather just quit cold turkey

[–] gratux@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 years ago

I'm currently downloading all my stuff, saved and upvoted posts etc. After that, we'll see.

[–] SplashingCobalt@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

I'll keep my reddit until Sync stop working.

[–] somepianoplayer@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

I haven't yet, I'm still a moderator ant it will be hard to leave reddit

[–] jazir5@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

I just decided to move here permanently myself.

[–] solor@feddit.de 1 points 2 years ago

Didn't delete my reddit account and probably won't. Just leaving it abandoned and lurk every once in a while.

I refuse to uninstall boost, and once I figure out how to delete all my posts, the I will be deleting my account.

I'm selling mine, apparently it's 50.000? Right?

[–] Phish@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

I still use it for sports subs but that's about it.

[–] Dalek@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I’m probably gonna keep my account but only use it on desktop with Ad blocker. If they break it with ad blocker I might delete but not sure. It’s hard to delete something I’ve been using for so long but I’ll definitely not use their shitty mobile app

[–] Marko@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I didn't delete my account, but my local community and I have switched to Discord and Lemmy. I think I'm now spending more time on these two services than on Reddit.

[–] fl1ghtless@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

I deleted my 10 year old account and haven't looked back. It was all useless karma after all.

[–] manitcor@lemmy.intai.tech 1 points 2 years ago

I'm going to leave the account, delete most of the old content and switch to posting links back to fediverse. Likely automated.

[–] RolandTheJabberwocky@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Just deleted RiF in anticipation of the blackout. Ill check it again on the first of next month and if it doesn't exist or work ill be gone for good. Going to suck, mainly need to find a new source for news, possibly on youtube or here, just enough to be up to date.

[–] redballooon@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

It will be a while until I consider Reddit replaced for me. There I subscribe to a ton of subs with only a few thousand people. Even if all of these already existed here, it would take some time to find them.

[–] polite_cat@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I yeeted my account today. I've used reddit for ~10 years now. It's sad about some niche communities and inside-jokes, but if people keep using lemmy i'm sure they will find their way here eventually.
