Yeah, you might think they had to come up with some generic politician talk, but all politician apologies sound that generic.

See, the first mistake was admitting to your error, followed by not blaming somebody else for the problem, and then not saying that those negatively affected by your actions are too sensitive and are trying to take away your freedoms. After youโ€™ve revised your PR technique, run for office.

They don't actually admit to their mistake, though. They just acknowledge that issues may have been caused by their actions, which is essentially a tautology. Much like "we all make mistakes".
