Summary

Federal health workers are alarmed after the “DEI Watch List” website published names, photos, and salaries of employees, mainly Black, labeling them “targets” for involvement in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

The conservative American Accountability Foundation runs the site, which has sparked fears of doxxing and intimidation.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently issued memos demanding an end to DEI-related work, escalating paranoia. Some staff have been placed on leave.

The conservative superpower is declaring somebody an enemy randomly and then making it true by being terrible to them, and avoiding the five seconds of attention it would take to realize they don't actually hate them.

[–] TheTimeKnife@lemmy.world 15 points 15 hours ago

This anti-DEI push is literally just an attempt at re-segregating the country. That's why these lists heavily target minorities. Their only goal is for their workplaces and government to be whites only again.

[–] Blumpkinhead@lemmy.world 17 points 16 hours ago

Here's their tip line. It would be a shame if people started flooding the site with nonsense tips.

“I don’t know what the intention of the list is for,” the person said.

Yes you do, it's for Trump's brownshirts

I think I've had enough internet for a few months.

I just feel so despairing and helpless. I'm not even American.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 10 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Conservative Accountability? lol

That’s an oxymoron if ever I saw one.

[–] 2ugly2live@lemmy.world 57 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is so terrifying and it's all happening at break neck speed. I feel so helpless. It's like some nightmare version of whack-a-mole.

[–] sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Their states strategy is to overwhelm the system so it/we cannot cope. I haven't heard of a good strategy to counter this, but we'll need to find one.

[–] Jimny_Crkt@slrpnk.net 1 points 10 hours ago

Personally, I think you have to realize that you cannot singlehandedly fight every battle. Then pick one cause that is important to you and go fight for that. Get past the overwhelm and take action on something.

The second amendment gives us the right to bear arms against a tyrannical government.

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

The laws of physics give tyrannical governments the power to turn me into a cloud of pink mist the moment I get too uppity.

[–] Warlord@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

It will come to people arming up and then violence as they begin to shoot people out of fear for their lives.

[–] AlternatePersonMan@lemmy.world 248 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Nothing like Hitler's rise to power. Both sides. Blah blah blah.

Clinton and Obama over saw two massive economic recoveries, and trump and Bush have birth to absolute dumpster fire economies... But sure vote for conservative "for the economy."

Every conservative in office is a nazi supporting piece of shit.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 18 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (1 children)

Also, things under Biden were at nearly record levels for so many indicators - in good directions.

There are just a lot of very stupid people.

And YES I'm blaming the voters. And a big fucking thanks to the "liberal media" that kept talking down the economy, FFS.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (1 children)

Unfortunately for Biden a healthy economy didn't translate to money in the pockets of people who needed it.

Giving subsidies to green energy and supporting our allies is good policy, but it doesn't fix the overinflated price of goods and human needs. And that's what Americans working like slaves care about.

[–] Zron@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

It’s almost like the economy doesn’t account for most Americans.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

When we judge our success off of GDP and the S&P, when the vast majority of stocks are owned by the rich and most Americans don't own businesses, then yeah, economic success has almost no correlation with median wealth or income.

For anyone who isn't white for the next four(ty) years, I'm really sorry.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 10 points 21 hours ago

There are a lot of whites that are going to be harmed as well. Believe that.

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 72 points 1 day ago (25 children)

Hey, plenty of white women and white poor people will get fucked as well.

[–] SuiXi3D@fedia.io 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Which is why my wife and I are desperately trying to move to Canada. I'm so sick of the US.

[–] aaron@lemm.ee 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Can you tell me how you're doing it? It seems really difficult.

[–] SolidShake@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago

It is difficult. Basically you have to apply. Prove you can contribute to their country/society . Apply and wait. It can take several months to get denied.

[–] SuiXi3D@fedia.io 17 points 1 day ago

Trying to apply for jobs and get sponsored for a work visa. I don't have a degree, so it's kind of my only option.

Anyone who isn’t a white able bodied straight man who is middle - upper class and isn’t a leftist.

[–] 7U5K3N@lemmy.dbzer0.com 141 points 1 day ago (2 children)

But doxxing the folks working for Elon in the Treasury department is a crime?

Okay.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 10 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

This is the "law and order" the qons so very much crave.

Law and order will be applied to all of YOU - meaning the others, the peasants, etc...law and order does not apply to ME - meaning those considered part of the in-group.

Naturally a lot of peasant dumbass qons think they'll be part of the in-group. 🤣

[–] bookmeat@lemmynsfw.com 58 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Either those people are illegally in the Treasury systems and should be identified or they're legitimate government employees and their public has a right to know who they are.

Okay.

[–] seven_phone@lemmy.world 56 points 1 day ago (2 children)

People are looking the other way as this is happening. What if camps are built to more efficiently process those involved, will anyone oppose it? I do not know if it will happen again but what this all shows is how it could and how readily people fall in line.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 38 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Every single post or mention I see that's critical of Trump's mass deportation actions is followed immediately with ''they are criminals, they broke the law'' they are ready for all levels of genocide and there's plenty of sensible kick the can democrats who are ALSO ready to not care when this happens. After all. They broke the law.

[–] KinglyWeevil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 13 hours ago

They "broke a law" by commiting a civil offense like speeding or not renewing your cars registration. Which is usually followed by a fine and an order to get your papers in order.

We typically need those people here illegally because they're contributing to the economy. Way more often than not they pay taxes, but collect no benefits. So the best path forward is really basically to offer citizenship to anyone who is employed, residing here and has been paying taxes for X period of time.

This feels like it should be a federal crime.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

It is, but laws don't apply to president Musk and his dog.

They're admitting to us that we can't remove them from power legally

[–] SolidShake@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

I'm sure someone could of they had the balls to do anything.

[–] A_A@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Congress has the authority but not the will. People's protests needs to bring them out of lethargy.

[–] SolidShake@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I wonder how today's protests went. My guess is 0% gained in achieving anything. But I hope I'm wrong.

[–] A_A@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

This sort of thing starts slowly. By spring time it will be huge. (otherwise USA is finished)

[–] SolidShake@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

I hope so and I agree.
