Surcharge part of initial retaliatory measures that will remain in place until U.S. tariffs are removed for good

Good move by Ontario.

Excellent - let's keep it that way until Mango Mussolini lifts all his bullshit tariffs.

I'm unfamiliar with the electricity market. Will it affect all Americans or only those at the border like New York state which is already anti Trump?

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

From what Ford said, Americans who are using the electricity from Ontario will expect to pay an extra $100 on their bill (unless he raises the rates even higher).

As long as those people understand that this is Trump's fault, and they direct their anger towards Trump and his enablers, this will be very effective! And we can always just turn that power off if they aren't putting enough pressure on the trump crime family🀭

Ontario currently exports electricity generated across the province directly to Michigan, New York and Minnesota.

I assume those are the only states that would be affected.

New York and Minnesota voted against Trump.

+1 to "Doesn't matter", but also: New York and Minnesota's electoral college votes did not go to Trump*.

On both states at least 40% of the votes were Trump, so it's not like it's a haven of angels being unfairly impacted. Use your blue/red paint by county instead of by state and see how it goes.

Next time trump complains, send him this.
