Great to have you here mate. I created an account a few days ago as well. The activity has been steadily increasing here.
Soccer, The World's Game
We just need to post more content here. The reason why the subreddit is so popular is the latest news and activities.
I used to be a lurker so commenting and being this active is already a huge step for me. I have already decided to be more active right now in order to get more traffic and encourage people to join. The more people show up right now, the higher the chances for content and interaction!
/r/soccer could as well be my homepage, so really hope it hits it off here, don't know where else I would get my daily dose of football news, aggregated nicely in one package.
What I could do without though are the endless beaten-to-death jokes and banter that requires no more than 1,5 brain cell.
Maybe this is the fresh start the community needed to get some higher-quality discussion going
I mean it'l definitely be hard though, even as I say this I'm also very, very partial to 'witty' oneliners and severely underinformed takes sometimes
I don’t mind witty or not so witty one liners or particularly curageous takes, that’s part of the fun and wouldn't be the same without it! I just don’t have to see tsunami of LADS in every single Tottenham-related match thread and stuff like that...
Think we messed up by not getting !Football though lads. This was our chance
I mean, there is a Football community on lemmy.ml. Which one becomes the default in the future depends on which one is the more active community, and that was how r/soccer came to be the default if I'm correct. I've subbed to !Football as well, so I guess if you want that one to be the main then just try and get everybody onto that one.
Oh well. The reddit tradition can continue here. I am sure the confusion would still bother some of the user base ahaha
I believe it will be a slow start but we are the content creators of this community. As long as keep discussion ongoing, eventually things will start falling into place.
So are we starting a new List? As in "Ragnar Klavan: 'Jurgen Klopp sent me a selfie to prove it was really him'"
Also, just in time for the treasure that is the Gold Cup.
Me as well, hoping more people post here. r/soccer was one of my absolute favourite subreddits.
