I want to create a community for my local city but when I click the button after entering the name, description, logo, etc. Nothing happens. Do I need to do something first?

Does it already exist on your instance? I think it needs to be lowercase too.
Hey! Unfortunately, the errors on community creation are not currently properly displayed in the frontend. What name are you trying to create the community with?
The most common reason for failure is simply the community name already being in use.
Hmm, I did a search for it again upper and lower case and it didn't return a result. I'll keep playing around and see how I get on, thanks!
Just checking - are you definitely trying to create the community with a lowercase name?
It was weird using Reddit Is Fun like I always do then it just suddenly stopped.
I can't create a community. I click the button and nothing happens. Any idea why? I'm trying to recreate a community from Reddit that really helped me when I was in a dark place.
Hey, I would like to debug this community creation issue, but I haven't been able to reproduce this. Can you walk me through the exact steps that you're taking? What text are you inputting into the creation form?
I could probably do a screen share at some point if that would help.
I log in, go to "Create Community"
Name and display name are both "exJW"
No icon or banner
Description is a one sentence thing that I change every time I try to create it
Moderator checkbox is unchecked
Languages are English and Undetermined
I'm using FireFox for Android
Try on FF for Windows or Linux, on some instances I have had big problems with FF for android not accepting credentials
Other people have mentioned that using other browsers on android has worked for them, but I personally prefer to stick with what I trust
Hey, sorry for the slow response, I've been getting a lot of messages and working through them steadily.
Name and display name are both โexJWโ
I suspect this is your issue - the actual name of a community must be lowercase. In my browser, it does tell me that the name is in a wrong format when I enter "exJW", but it's not super clear what the correct format is. I believe this error error message will need to be improved.
Anyway, I have created the community myself: https://lemm.ee/c/exjw. Please make a post in here and tag my name, I can then pass ownership of the community to you. At that point, you'll be able to set it up however you like!
That's what brought me here! I'll miss RIF, but I think it's time to get used to something new. I appreciate how welcoming everyone seems!
You have my axe! Ex digg/reddit here so this just feels like dejavu. Just trying to find an iOS/Mac app Iโm happy with, so far mlem does pretty good!
It has become muscle memory for me to open the app. My phone seems so empty now.
Just gotta put a new app in its place!
actually yes, put the wefwef app there
Sync is coming
Same. Hopefully a good Lemmy app can take the old place Reddit is Fun had
9 years and 33k Karma. Unfortunately it ends today.
Hello Lemmy. Guess this is where I'll go from now on.
Had 200k+ karma on my main account and 30k+ on several other accounts (adult account, etc.). I don't think Huffman or Reddit know what they're doing. Anyway, hello Lemmy!!!
Thank you for your warm welcome.
I never used a reddit ap, nor have I moderated, but I've watched the happenings and been incredulous at Huffman's (and subsequently Reddit's) behavior.
