General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

If you’re on the right I doubt you’re bright.

I have no issues with this. People this young have no idea what right wing means outside of its very modern definition the current Tory party uses. These people think they are right wing but have never been forced into a brick lane ghetto by an essentially inbred upper class or had experiments done on them. This current tory party calls itself right wing but its basically doing that to appease the membership who in the 70s would happily put ‘no blacks, no dogs, no irish’ on room adverts and would apply to most of the cabinet, and Gove who is Scottish. This generation is now 40 years older but thanks to medical advancement are still clinging to life and voting.

Imagine a smart Rees Mogg and your halfway there. These kids dont know theyre born

Archive link.

As much as I agree with much of the opinion in the article that kids needs housing, I cannot see Labour fulfilling that void in the short term. Supply of materials and skill base is an issue. A lot of our builders went back to the EU. Our supply of building materials comes from the EU, which in turn is very restricted. There will be no quick fixes when it comes to house building.

Seems sensible, Labour are a center-right neoliberal capitalist party again now. Who else is a bright young rightwinger gonna vote for?
