Communities have to be nurtured and tended. Start posting content and see whether it grows. Be prepared for it to take a while though. People are still exploring and finding all the books and crannies.
Personal Finance

Note: This community is not region centric, so if you are posting anything specific to a certain region, kindly specify that in the title (something like [USA], [EU], [AUS] etc.)
I guess you're right, we need to actually post content for others to join. It's tough because I don't necessarily have anything to post right now, but it was nice to scroll through the subreddit to find new things in the personal finance topics.
I've come to realise that Reddit trained me to simply consume content rather than be an active participant in a community. This makes sense when you realise that they are selling advertising and have a small number of people who generate enough content for others to consume.
Lemmy is meant to be a community, so I'm finding I'm having to step up and actually contribute by way of commenting, posting and modding.
Yep, it's pretty quiet here. What areas of personal finance interest you most? What sort of conversations are you looking to have?
I got into the early retirement movement and subsequently optimizing my spending and investing. In general I like to talk about money matters because most people don't like to discuss money IRL.
It will come alive as more switch to the fediverse. Just need patience. Reddit was once like this when Digg was massive.
Not dead. Hasn't been born yet.
Not dead, just a bit quiet. Maybe just a lot of lurkers at the moment? It's actually the most active one in the Lemmy/Kbin fediverse.
I'm still new so for now I subbed to all the personal finance communities. From what I found (listed in order of most recent activity):
- /c/personalfinance@lemmy.ml (this instance, most active)
- /c/personalfinance@lemmy.world (some activity)
- /c/personalfinance@kbin.social (some activity)
- /c/personalfinance@lemm.ee (no activity yet)
- /c/personalfinance@lemmy.finance (no activity yet)
- /c/personalfinance@chat.maiion.com (no activity yet)
