Honest answer? I think the current US anthem is fine. Some would like it to be "God Bless America", but I don't care for the "god" reference, although it is a better song. Others would argue for "America the Beautiful". The "God" reference isn't as prominent in this case, but I think any reference to God is inappropriate in a supposedly secular society. A war poem set to the tune of a drinking song is both appropriate and the best we can do, imho.
