General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

To be honest, "Suella" sounds a bit too much like a brand of washing up liquid

David Cameron getting back I to government!?!

He is better than most of their more recent seat warmers I guess...

I doubt it he has no conviction or staying power.

But what evil hog will replace her?

[–] Phanatik@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

James Cleverly, the former foreign secretary whose role is being filled by David Cameron.

Thanks for filling me in! What a dirty little merry-go-round that is.

It's funny because it's true.

Faith in humanity slightly restored.

By self serving politicians serving their own interests? That bar is pretty low..

Not having a go at you, I get grasping at any silver lining we think we can see, but don't think for a second any of this is happening because any of them give a shit about the homeless people or immigrants and asylum seekers who she's openly attacked, those and other marginalised groups aren't gaining anything here..

I was thinking more along the lines of: it's probably a sign their pollsters have found that maybe most of the British public don't much like her "kill the poor" opinions after all?

[–] DessertStorms@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Honestly? Doubt it.. What most of the public think has never really concerned them before, and they are still very much the party for killing the poor (or at least severely punishing us for existing to serve them).

@DessertStorms sorry to hear that. I feel your pain. My country just voted in a conservative government too.

[–] DessertStorms@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

My condolences, and solidarity.

Oh man that's bad news. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help. I'm sick of these lying bastards wherever that are.
