@doctorLURK @newpipe
There are also apps like Innertune which are just music apps that use YouTube.

I tried this https://github.com/maxrave-dev/SimpMusic for some time but have a lot of issues with playback.
Thnaks for sharing i will try newpipe for that.
Can you link to the actual app? Play store search tries to hide it from me with confusing links and ads. Can't check it out if idk what to look for.
@lurch Sure! I went here with my mobile browser and directly downloaded it: https://newpipe.net/#download
I've had my phone open to non-Play Store APKs for a long time, so I don't know if your mileage will vary, but it was pretty painless for me.
Thanks, i tried it, but it's just a frontend for youtube. I need a replacement for youtube (the site), because its shit
@lurch Yes, it's a YouTube front-end. It suits my purposes because I can listen to my old playlists of game music, etc. (stuff not typically available on streaming music platforms) without having to plow through a thousand ads every hour, but it's not a competing service to YouTube, per se.
If you want to completely get away from YouTube, I don't have any personal experience yet, but I've heard nice things about the federated video tool, @peertube ! (NewPipe will also integrate with PeerTube.)
Hi there! Your text contains links to other Lemmy communities, here are correct links for Lemmy users: !peertube@lemmy.ml
You linked a community again.
Following that link, I find another link to a software for self-hosting videos.
What I need is a site. You know, like dailymotion.com. Maybe I'll use that. I miss the old vimeo.
