I don't feel non-drugged until well after 6 PM. I'm sleeping very well. I even tried caffeine pills and even caffeine doesn't budge the "just come to under general anesthesia" feeling. I've been under before, and that retch-y feeling is the same. People have also noticed that I'm moving slowly. I don't drink alcohol, so this isn't a hangover. It started rather gradually but is getting worse.

Someone suggested it could be low b12, but I've been having the sublingual spray for months and there's no improvement.

Am I just getting old and this is something I'm gonna have to put up with for the rest of my life?

I don’t know if anyone has said this, I didn’t go through all the comments, but be sure to probe depression or mood disorders. If you’re not active also definitely try adding a little bit of activity early every day even if you feel like you can’t, just let yourself tap out if you want but at least show up and start to see if you actually want to continue.

I am definitely NOT saying to not continue to probe medical reasons by any means. But feeling tired all the time can be a characteristic of mood disorders and it can be easy to misattribute just how physically tired that can make you for a physical ailment. It can also be hard to see it when you may have coped well with it your whole life, but are only now reaching the burnout from it.

Do you have an anxiety disorder? Anxiety can manifest physically in many different ways.

could be anemia, women gets them alot from periods. you definitely needs some blood test to check your: full blood panel. probably check a1c, glucose, ,,,etc. B12 deficiency is unlikely unless you went full vegan or have some disorder, like celiacs, or rarely a tapeworm.

as other said, you could have a thyroid problem, probably autoimmune of the thyroid.

Are you living alone? Start seeing doctors.

Are you living with one or more people? Start seeing the police. (edit: and then doctors)

Others have provided good advice. I'll only add that you might also think about celiac / gluten sensitivity. There's a wide range of possible symptoms there. You could just try cutting out gluten for a week or two and see if the situation improves, because it's not always easy to diagnose.

But yes, do talk to a doctor, and be prepared to push back and advocate for yourself if they brush you off.

Get your thyroid levels checked. When I feel like this it's usually that I need more Synthroid.

Echoing: talk to a doctor. Keep talking to doctors until you figure out the problem.

Someone suggested it could be low b12, but I've been having the sublingual spray for months and there's no improvement.

If you suspect a B12 deficiency, get tested for it. With serious deficiency you'd likely also see low hemoglobin, low hematocrit, and low neutrophil count in your blood work. Just to be clear though: I'm not a doctor.

The vast majority of "sublingual" B12 is absorbed in the gut. Very little is absorbed through the mucosa. If you have a b12 absorption problem, you may need a B12 injection. You can either get one from a doctor or do it yourself with an insulin needle, if you're comfortable. I've had a B12 deficiency that couldn't be resolved with any form of oral B12 supplementation.

peri- menopause? IANAD and am a male

I'd suggest seeing a doctor but you could be from the US and it might not be possible.

Process of elimination. Other than what's been mentioned...

  1. Does this happen when you're staying over somewhere else or in a hotel for a few days? If not, may want to check for mold, bed bugs, or airborne particulates. Mold is usually odorless, but can grow behind walls and above ceilings.

  2. Can you switch out into a fresh, new set of clothing and/or beddings, and use allergen-free detergents? It's possible to develop allergies to certain fabrics and cleaning supplies.

  3. Ask for a sleep study. Often it involves wearing a special watch continuously for a day or two, then turning it in. Sleep apnea can disrupt flow of oxygen to the brain. There are now ultra-quiet CPAP machines, with very discreet facemasks, so nobody has to be kept awake.

No. Start learning about the gut microbiome. https://humanmicrobiome.info/

Not necessarily, go see your medical provider. Could be thyroid or other issues.

[-] mholiv@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Do you get your kicks out of this? Why do you keep on making new accounts and trying to frame misogynistic tropes?

[-] JackbyDev@programming.dev 3 points 3 weeks ago

Get a physical.

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I feel that way waking up if I slept for like 12+ hours straight.

[-] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Not age. Something is going on. Could be depression. Could be an infection. Could be a lot of things.

[-] pixxelkick@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

I think way more context is needed.

  1. How many hours of continous uninterrupted sleep do you get per night?

  2. How often do you find yourself waking up during the night for any reason, and if so, what reason(s)? Soreness and needing to shift? Bathroom trips? Unknown reason? Noise?

  3. Does your jaw hurt after waking up? (Possibly grinding teeth or clenching jaw)

  4. How dry do you feel? Do you consistently wake up feeling dehydrated?

  5. How stressed are you, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being zenlike calm and 10 throwing up panic attacks.

  6. (Very common issue) Have you checked CO2 (carbon dioxide, not monoxide, just normal CO2 levels) in your room after sleeping in it? Rooms can be prone to bad airflow and CO2 slowly builds up overnight. Check for covered vents and ducts restricting airflow, try opening your window a bit. You can buy cheap air quality monitors online and test your rooms air quality in the morning after a sleep.

  7. Are there any other places in your house you find sleeping or taking a nap doesnt cause this? Try paying for a 1 night hotel room, and see if sleeping in a different bed in a different building still has the same issues or not, to narrow it down to if its a you problem or an environment problem.

  8. Record yourself sleeping, see how much you move around, snore, or see if you have sleep apnea.

  9. Surprisingly your dentist is more likely to help test you for possible sleep apnea issues, as a huge amount of sleeping problems have to do with palette shape, overbite/underbite, etc. So talk to your dentist about this!

Get a sleep study done, pushing 40 and not at all normal, once in a while I'll wake up slowly, or wake up before my body does, and it's uncomfortable, happened maybe once or twice and if it ever happened multiple days in a row I'd be bringing it up with my primary.
