Why block out the name? It's a public review after all.

[-] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 1 month ago

Because it’s a repost from elsewhere, with extensive rules about such things.

Because people are animals. Especially online.

Of course it can be! Where is your faith? God's ways are unfathomable!

"he commented on Yelp, while pushing the crucifix deeper inside his sensitive cavity.

"The Lord speaks through me now." he thought.

I'm part of some "Flat Earth Debate" groups because I love talking about physics

They are definitely out there and it does not matter what reality says because they claim that's "man" and man never knows better than God

I'm telling you, you could put these people on a rocket, blast them into space, push them out into space with no space suit so they can see the round spinning "water ball" with their own un-filtered eyes and moments before their head froze in the vacuum of space their last thought would be, "the devil has taken my eyes"

I grew up in a religious sect that believed this. I was a young earth Creationist but never bought into the 6-7,000 year age of earth variety. That seemed obviously forced to me. I didn’t think the genealogies proved much of anything because they aren’t internally consistent . I also believed in evolution, just not as a theory of origin.

That said, even as someone who could accept a 20,000 year age of earth, I never felt the need to interrupt others in public. I recognized it wasn't going to convince anyone and was just a dick move. I think most Creationists also view these people as weird assholes.

I think creationists are weird arseholes who just keep their shit quiet when they know they are outnumbered

They get plenty mouthy when they feel bold enough

Because they're stupid, and ignorant, and incredibly insecure (because they know they're stupid) when they hear intelligent people talk of things that are beyond their understanding

Your christian perspective is skewed. You should re-align it with the real, existing world.

"C" has inaccurate information from a Christian perspective

Been to Mammoth cave quite a few times, and there is usually one or two in every group unfortunately.

[-] nickiwest@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

I have also toured Mammoth Cave with people who want to challenge the science with their young-earth creationist claims.

Obviously, the tour guides get that a lot, because at least two different ones basically said, "You're welcome to your religious beliefs, but here at Mammoth Cave we follow the empirical scientific evidence that shows ..."

Last Thursdayism, all of reality came into existence as is ten seconds ago, maybe.

[-] Armok_the_bunny@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Counterpoint, Next Thursdayism, reality doesn't exist yet and your memory of reading this was manufactured at the moment of creation to try to convince you it had already happened.
